2025 US Open Picks & Predictions: Justin Rose

The third major of the year, the 2025 U.S. Open, begins Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Western Pennsylvania.

Oakmont is a classic U.S. Open venue with narrow fairways, overgrown rough, and lightning-fast greens. We'll once again get to see the famous "Church Pews" - the huge bunker bordering holes No. 3 and No. 4 that has rows of grass strips in the sand.

It will be a challenging test for the best players in the world. Will we get a head-to-head duel between No. 1 player in the world Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship last month, and No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who won the Masters in April? Or will LIV Tour star Bryson DeChambeau successfully defend his 2024 U.S. Open title?

The BettingPros Guide to the 2025 U.S. Open will drill down on all the wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the top contenders for America's national championship of golf.

Read on for our 2025 US Open picks and predictions for Justin Rose.

Course History

Justin Rose has one major victory in his career, but it came back in 2013 when the event was held at Merion Golf Club. This year's event will be played at Oakmont Country Club, and the 44-year-old has participated in two events there.

Rose logged a 10th-place finish at the U.S. Open in 2007, but missed the cut completely in 2016. Rose has missed the cut in two consecutive U.S. Opens, as well as in four of his last five attempts.

Recent Form

Like his recent form in the U.S. Open, the 2025 campaign hasn't been a successful one for Rose. The Englishman hasn't made it to Saturday in three of his last five events, with the outliers being 42nd- and 44th-place finishes. It is worth noting that Rose ramped it up and recorded a second-place finish at Augusta in April.

Betting Outlook: 2025 U.S. Open Picks & Predictions

I have no interest in backing Justin Rose in his current form, so much so that I'm looking to fade the aging Englishman this weekend at Oakmont. I'll lock in a -110 wager (via DraftKings Sportsbook) and say that Rose doesn't make the cut.

Rose has missed the cut in the U.S. Open 80% of the time in his last five attempts, as well as in two of his last three tournaments overall.
