2025 US Open Picks & Predictions: Patrick Reed
The third major of the year, the 2025 U.S. Open, begins Thursday at Oakmont Country Club in Western Pennsylvania.
Oakmont is a classic U.S. Open venue with narrow fairways, overgrown rough, and lightning-fast greens. We'll once again get to see the famous "Church Pews" - the huge bunker bordering holes No. 3 and No. 4 that has rows of grass strips in the sand.
It will be a challenging test for the best players in the world. Will we get a head-to-head duel between No. 1 player in the world Scottie Scheffler, who won the PGA Championship last month, and No. 2 Rory McIlroy, who won the Masters in April? Or will LIV Tour star Bryson DeChambeau successfully defend his 2024 U.S. Open title?
The BettingPros Guide to the 2025 U.S. Open will drill down on all the wagering opportunities this tournament presents, taking a closer look at the top contenders for America's national championship of golf.
Read on for our 2025 US Open picks and predictions for Patrick Reed.

Patrick Reed missed the cut in the 2016 U.S. Open when it was last held at Oakmont Country Club. Since joining the LIV Tour, Reed has played in two U.S. Opens, finishing 49th in 2022 and 56th in 2023.

The best golf of the season so far for Reed came at the Masters, where the former champion finished third. He missed the cut at the PGA Championship, however.
Betting Outlook: 2025 U.S. Open Picks & Predictions
Reed is a stay-away for me this week. His third-place finish at the Masters was impressive, but his success in majors has mostly been limited to Augusta National. He missed the cut against PGA players in his only other attempt on the season.
Reed isn’t doing much better on the LIV Tour this season, with only one top-five finish in eight tournaments. Anyone who has won a major has proven they can play well under pressure, so Reed is a threat. I just need to see him play well against PGA players outside of the Masters before I can be comfortable betting on him again.
