Spain and Mali are loaded with high-volume shooting threats that can get hot. If these teams trade three-point baskets, this could be one of the lowest projected lines of the day. Based on the scoring from the first day of action, we have a 36.5-point cushion based on tournament averages. Small sample size for sure. Yet, these two teams were relentless at getting shots up to start their tournament journey.
Mali and Spain accounted for 48 of the three-pointers attempted on Friday, while combining for 132 field goals. If these two teams get anywhere near those numbers on Saturday, they will fly over the 143.5-point threshold. Spain and Mali also were no strangers to the free-throw line, with each team getting to the stripe on 16 occasions.
Leg #2: Germany -1.5 First-Quarter (-113)
Our second parlay leg focuses on Germany bouncing back from a horrific first showing against Spain. Germany failed to accumulate 20 points in any quarter and never got the wheels off the ground. Germany will be looking to make a statement on Day 2, and Japan was ever so gracious to Mali through the first quarter of their contest. It's more than likely going to be the lowest speed of the entire day, so it makes sense to back Germany for a two-point lead at the end of the first quarter.
Early foul trouble and turnovers completely shut down the German team’s offense against Spain. Japan allowed Mali to score 25 points in the first 10 minutes and trailed by four at the end of the first quarter. Maybe it was the excitement of playing in front of a home crowd on such a grand stage that impacted Germany in their first game. Whatever it was, we expect the team to disregard that foul showing and take the lead by at least two points going into the second quarter.
