Hungary vs. Japan
Hungary is coming off back-to-back wins and has advanced to the next stage of the tournament. The Hungarian team was dealt a cold hand to start when they found out their first opponent would be France. Hungary fell 46 points shy of that victory. However, the team bounced back with consecutive wins against Nigeria and South Korea. Japan plays a very similar style of basketball to South Korea, given their height limitations on the frontcourt. Hungary has fared very well when the size advantage is in their favor, and should be able to pick up the win against Japan.
Hungary has averaged 76.5 points over their previous two games, and Japan is very much in favor of pushing the pace. Hungary connected on 50% of their field-goal attempts and 36.4% of their 32 three-point attempts in their last contest. The Hungarian team was relentless from beyond the arc on Monday; expect much of the same. Dorka Juhasz is averaging over 20 points over the previous two games, while teammate Virag Csilla Kiss has chipped in by averaging 15.5 points per game over that span. Japan is somehow the favorite even after losing their two previous contests by 16+ points.

Germany vs. South Korea
Germany's most skilled player on the offensive side of the ball, Leonie Fiebich, still hasn't gotten it going, but the team continues to put up points. The Germans scored 83 points on 44.8% shooting from the field and 32% from beyond the arc on Monday.
Frieda Buhner has been remarkable for Germany, with 40 points through the previous two contests. Luisa Geiselsoder contributed 19 points against Mali, while Nyara Sabally dropped 18 points in the previous game against Japan. If Fiebich can start knocking down shots, this game could get ugly very fast. Germany has a +20 point differential going into halftime over the past two games.
Germany should take another positive step in scoring and put up 83+ points in a second consecutive contest. South Korea has allowed an average of 86 points over three games. Germany's size and shooting prowess should make for some very easy looks at the basket.
South Korea does enjoy playing at a fast pace, so the extra possessions will certainly be welcomed. Germany will be playing for the opportunity to advance in front of their home crowd in a contest in which they are favored by double digits. We expect the German team to have at least a six-point lead going into the half and to score 83 points or more.
