2026 Genesis Invitational Picks & Predictions: PGA Longshots
The second Signature Event on the 2026 PGA Tour schedule is The Genesis Invitational. It returns to its default host site, Riviera Country Club in the Pacific Palisades, following a departure to Torrey Pines due to California’s wildfires in 2025.
Ludvig Åberg won this event at Torrey Pines last season, while Hideki Matsuyama returns to Riviera as its former champion in 2024. Scottie Scheffler remains a massive betting favorite against the field at +340 odds.
Prominent golfers with odds shorter than 30-1 in this 72-man field include Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Hideki Matsuyama, Tommy Fleetwood, Russell Henley, Patrick Cantlay, and Cameron Young. Chris Gotterup, Collin Morikawa, and Justin Rose, who have all posted wins in 2026, are available in the +3000 to +4000 odds range.
My 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Picks & Predictions: PGA Longshots came close with Akshay Bhatia at +6000 odds. Bhatia held position atop the leaderboard after Round 2 and Round 3, before failing to finish under par on Sunday. Tom Hoge also made a push at +12500 odds, ultimately settling for a T14 finish.

Shane Lowry (+7500)
Shane Lowry is available at a massive value in the 75-1 outright winner betting market. The Irishman last teed off at Riviera in 2023, securing a T14 finish at 7-under-par.
In his 2026 debut at Pebble Beach, Lowry looked solid, shooting a bogey-free (-5) in Round 4 to log a T8 finish. Lowry ranks 11th in total strokes gained through one event this year.
He’s 15th in SG: Approach. Also sits 18th in SG: Putting, 10th driving accuracy, 13th at finding greens in regulation, and fifth in proximity.
At +7500 odds, let’s bet on Lowry to post his fourth PGA Tour win and first victory at Riviera this weekend.
Max Homa (+7500)
Max Homa is attempting to return to the peak of his game. Coming to Riviera could help give him a jolt, as it’s the site of one of Homa’s six PGA Tour wins.
The California native won a playoff here in 2021. Then, Homa went T10-2-T16, before a missed cut during the event’s relocation to Torrey Pines in 2025.
Homa does not have a T20 finish in three events played this season. His best effort was a T27 at The American Express.
This is a classic horse for the course scenario. Homa does rank well in total driving (19th) and 68th in SG: Approach.
We’ll take a flier on the 2021 winner to heat up and end a three-year win drought at one of his best courses on the PGA Tour circuit. Bet Homa to win outright at 75-1.
J.T. Poston (+8000)
Let’s finish by backing J.T. Poston at +8000 odds. Poston logged a T10 finish at Riviera in 2024. He’s gone T38-T35-T37 to start 2026, while ranked 45th in SG: Off-the-Tee, 15th in driving accuracy, and ninth at finding greens in regulation at 76.8 percent.
Putting has been an issue for a golfer who previously had strong form with the flat stick. Now, he’s playing well tee-to-green, while scrambling and putting issues have hampered his short game.
In eight appearances at The Genesis Invitational, Poston’s best performance was T10 the last time this event was held at Riviera in 2024. Let’s bet on him at +8000 odds to win for the fourth time on the PGA Tour.
We need Poston to find his putter and pair it with a strong tee-to-green accuracy to cash his outright winner ticket in Southern California this week.
