USA vs. Finland

  • Leg 1: Team USA -1.5 (-135
  • Leg 2: Auston Matthews Anytime Goal Scorer (+150)
  • Leg 3: Matthew Tkachuk 1+ Points (-140)

Team USA has one of the deeper and more well-balanced rosters. They have a talented group of forwards. Every shift will feature multiple players who can put the puck in the back of the net. It is difficult to figure out who will be on the first line. There's former Hart Trophy winner Auston Matthews. There’s Matthew Tkachuk, who was last year’s playoff points leader for the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers (tied with Aleksander Barkov – 22 points each). And then there’s Kyle Connor, who's currently sixth in points (69), and Jack Eichel, who is fourth in assists (50).

If that offense doesn't measure up somehow, they have a great collection of defensemen, including former Norris Trophy winner Adam Fox, Brock Faber and Charlie McAvoy. That defense is anchored by one of the best goalies in the game - reigning Vezina Trophy winner Connor Hellebuyck. The Winnipeg goaltender could be a back-to-back award winner as he leads the league in goals allowed per game (2.07) and goals saved above expected (27.8) and is second in save percentage (.925).

If Finland wants a chance in this tournament the offense must play a large role. The forwards are where they have the most talent. Mikko Rantanen had 64 points leading up to his departure from Colorado. While he's been in a slump since moving to Carolina, he can get hot at any point. Roope Hintz is another great scoring option as he comes off three straight seasons of 30+ goals and already has 22 on the year. Sebastian Aho and Aleksander Barkov are two of the better puck facilitators in the league, and they can give their teammates opportunities to get great shots.

The defensive side is where they will struggle. Miro Heiskanen was set to be their top defenseman, but he will miss the tournament with an injury. There is talent at the position, including Niko Mikkola, Esa Lindell and Olli Maatta, but if you look at it compared to the other rosters, they are probably the weakest unit.

The goaltending position has the biggest questions. Juuse Saros has the most experience and will get the start, but he's allowing 2.95 goals per game and -3.5 goals saved above expected. They also have Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, who has been worse, allowing 3.04 goals. Kevin Lankinen might be the better-performing goalie of the three at 2.53 goals allowed, but he has the least amount of experience of the three.

With each team’s forward talent, we could see a lot of goals. Team USA has a much more talented roster and can make stops when needed.
