There are more important issues facing our world than sports and gambling right now, but the news can get exhausting. If you’re like me, sports make for a welcome distraction in troubled times, and sports betting is a compelling way to get in on the action.

Here are five live events that you can put your money on this weekend.

1. PGA Charles Schwab Challenge

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  The tournament runs all weekend long (CBS).

The PGA Tour is back in action this weekend, as the world’s best golfers tee it up in the Charles Schwab Challenge at Colonial Golf Course. The tournament began on Thursday, but you can still find some live lines at different sportsbooks. For example, BetMGM has lines posted for the tournament’s eventual winner.

Two big-name golfers headline my recommended bets for the rest of the tournament. Justin Rose (+650) is a logical play, as he’s currently tied for the lead with Harold Varner III. Rose is currently the 14th-ranked golfer in the world right now, and despite a streak of poor play, his skill with short irons is a huge advantage at a course like Colonial.

Likewise, Jordan Spieth (+1100) is well-equipped to handle Colonial’s emphasis on the short game. In the past five years here, Spieth has won once and finished second twice, so taking a flyer on him to win would make plenty of sense.

2. UFC Fight Night: Eye vs. Calvillo

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Saturday at 9:00 PM EST (ESPN+).

After last weekend’s UFC 250, Dana White has another card of fights for fans this Saturday. A women’s flyweight match between Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo headlines the matchup, and fans should be treated to a much closer headliner than the one they got last weekend.

Over at DraftKings, it’s a dead-even line, as both Eye (-110) and Calvillo (-110) have the same odds to win. This match is Calvillo’s first in her new weight class, as she’s making the move up from strawweight, and Eye has been quite outspoken about the move.

“I am jacked about how much I know my size will play into a factor with this,” she said. Eye, who measures five-foot-six and 125 pounds, has six inches on the five-foot Calvillo. At an even line, I’d take the bigger fighter to win this matchup.

3. International Soccer: La Liga and Bundesliga

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Events run all weekend.

International soccer leagues have been ramping up play over the past couple of weeks, and now La Liga returns to the pitch. While it’ll be fun to see big-name clubs like Real Madrid and FC Barcelona back in action, I’m targeting a more obscure game for my pick this weekend.

On Saturday morning, last-place Espanyol takes on 14th-place Alaves. Combined, the two clubs average 1.93 goals scored per game. That said, they surrender a combined 3.07 per match, and four of the two teams’ last 10 games have featured at least three points. Since the extended break should lead to sloppy play, I’m comfortable buying the over 2.5 goals at +162 through FanDuel.

In Germany, league leaders Bayern Munich draw fourth-place M’gladbach. Despite their proximity in the rankings, M’gladbach is 14 points behind Bayern, and the first-place club has scored 33 more goals on the season. That said, M’gladbach upset Bayern earlier this season. Since both teams will play without their top scorers, it makes sense to lay the under 2.5 goals (+225) or 3.5 goals (-116), and a double-chance bet on M’gladbach and Draw (+200) would be another smart value bet on FanDuel.

4. Australian Rules Football

Where: FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Events run all weekend.

The Australian Football League (AFL) has returned, and it brings betting action with it this weekend. For those unfamiliar, Aussie rules football dates back to the 1800s, and it’s similar to both rugby and American football. This highlight video should be enough to whet the appetite of any prospective bettor.

On Sunday, the Sydney Swans (-143) take on the Essendon Bombers (+105). The two clubs are ranked eighth and seventh, respectively, and both won the only games that they’ve played so far this year. While the Swans put up 74 points against Adelaide back in March, Essendon only scored 63 against Fremantle. Yes, a lot may have changed since then, but the limited sample size doesn’t give us much to work with. I’m cautiously picking Sydney to win based on their recent offensive success.

5. NASCAR Racing at Homestead-Miami Speedway

Where: FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Sunday at 3:30 PM EST (FOX).

The NASCAR Cup Series hits the banks of Homestead-Miami Speedway this Sunday, and a limited number of fans will be allowed to attend.

Throughout his career, Kevin Harvick has dominated the 1.5-mile track, posting a jaw-dropping 6.42-place average finish through 19 career races. The next-best driver with more than five starts is Martin Truex, Jr., whose 10.2-place average finish is still four spots behind Harvick’s. Harvick has only finished two races here outside of the top-10, and his 11-career top-5s here leads all active drivers by five. You can punch in Harvick to finish top-5 at -136 on DraftKings.

Also, Tyler Reddick makes for an interesting wildcard bet this weekend. The rookie has never finished outside the top-5 here in the Xfinity Series, and he’s won a race here for two different teams. While he’ll face stiffer competition this weekend than in the sport’s feeder series, his long odds to finish top-5 (+700) or top-10 (+160) mean that he’s still a smart value pick for this weekend’s race.
