As coronavirus cases resurge across the United States, the sporting world’s return is in question. Several star golfers pulled out of the PGA’s Travelers Championship this weekend due to the virus, and another shutdown could be on the horizon.

Fortunately for bettors, not all of the best live sports to watch right now operate out of the United States. The UFC’s Fight Island will even debut shortly, paving the way for some high-profile matchups.

But let’s enjoy the sports we have while we have them. Here are five live events that I’d recommend getting action on this weekend.

1. PGA: Travelers Championship

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  The tournament runs all weekend long (CBS).

This weekend marks the PGA’s second consecutive visit to a Pete Dye-designed course. Some of the world’s best golfers will tee it up at TPC River Highlands, a course situated in central Connecticut. Five competitors withdrew from the tournament due to coronavirus-related concerns, and that list includes stars Brooks Koepeka and Webb Simpson.

Dye courses are known for their below-average length and tree-lined fairways, and these combine to emphasize golfers’ approach game. When betting on the Travelers this weekend, make sure to follow Nic Turner’s advice and pick golfers that perform well on Dye’s courses.

While Turner recommends Ancer, I’ll go with  Bryson DeChambeau in this spot. He’s one of the best golfers on Dye-designed courses, and he’s off to a good start at T11. You can buy DeChambeau at odds of +800 through FanDuel.

2. UFC Fight Night: Poirier vs. Hooker

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  8:00 PM EST (ESPN+).

We’ve got another slate of interesting fights after Curtis Blaydes took down Alexander Volkov on a decision last weekend. This weekend’s headliner is a lightweight bout between third-ranked Justin Poirier (-213) and fifth-ranked Dan Hooker (+175). Only the now-retired Conor McGregor separates the two fighters.

Hooker enters the fight on a three-match winning streak, while Poirier is coming off a championship loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov. He’ll be looking for redemption in this spot.

Poirier has won by submission or knockout in 19 of his 25 career victories. However, Hooker has only lost to a knockout or submission in three of his eight career defeats. The fight isn’t expected to go the distance, but experts could be underestimating Hooker here. This match might be a good one for a two-unit play. At FOX Bet, you can get Poirier to win by KO, TKO, or DSQ boosted up to +140. Put one unit on that and chase it with a “yes” bet for the fight to go the distance at +190. You won’t win a ton of money, but one line should cash.

3. English Premier League

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Games run on Saturday and Sunday.

As of Thursday night, Liverpool and Mohamed Salah ended the club’s 30-year championship drought! There’s still soccer to play, however, and we’ve got a small slate of games to discuss.

In Watford (+145) vs. Southampton (+195), both clubs find themselves in the plus money. Watford, ranked 16th, are just one point away from relegation. In contrast, 14th-ranked Southampton appear safe, but they don’t have much of an opportunity for upward mobility.

Both clubs have struggled offensively this season. Watford’s 28 goals for are the second-fewest, and Southampton’s 38 are about average. Watford has all the motivation to succeed here, and I’d recommend playing them to win at +145 or for them to win by one goal at +310 through DraftKings.

4. Korean Baseball

Where: 888sport, FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Games run all weekend long.

Last weekend, FanDuel adjusted the Hanwha Eagles’ runline from +1.5 to +4.5. The club cleared that line in each of their three games against the NC Dinos, and they’re now back to +1.5. We’ll have to look somewhere else this week.

This weekend, the KBO’s two best offenses play in a three-game series. The NC Dinos are scoring 6.5 runs per game, and their opponents, the Doosan Bears, are scoring 6.3 per match. While the Dinos are a top-half team defensively, the Bears surrender the third-most runs per game.

As a result, I’m tapping the over. It’s set at 10.5 (-138), so it’s a juicy play, but I think it’s the right one. You can play the line as-is, but I might wait to see if FanDuel adjusts the juice throughout the weekend.

5. NASCAR Racing at Pocono

Where: FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, FOX Bet, William Hill.
When:  Race 1 runs Saturday at 3:30 PM EST (FOX). Race 2 runs Sunday at 4:00 PM EST (FS1).

After a week jam-packed with controversy, NASCAR heads to the Tricky Triangle for the first doubleheader in the sport’s modern history. It’ll make for a thrilling weekend of racing, and I’m excited to lay some action on it.

Joe Gibbs drivers have dominated Pocono recently, as they’ve won all of the past four races. However, Gibbs’ Toyotas have been relatively cold so far in 2020, and only Denny Hamlin and Martin Truex, Jr. have won races so far.

Kevin Harvick has been the man to beat in 2020, and he’s the only non-Gibbs driver with a top-5 driver rating here in recent races. While I’m not confident that he’ll win, you can get him to finish top-5 in the plus money at +102 through DraftKings.
