Aftershocks (Wichita State) vs. Challenge ALS
The Aftershocks looked terrific in their first game of the tournament, earning a 74-51 win over No Excuses. The Wichita State alumnus team used a strong third quarter to emphasize the blowout further.
For the Aftershocks, not a single player stood out. There was consistent contribution across the board. Every player scored at least three points and played at least 13 minutes. Nobody will be tired, and the chemistry looks strong after one game.
On the flip side, Challenge ALS stunned Austin’s Own with a 75-73 win in the Round of 64. They were trailing heading into the fourth quarter but picked it up late to win.
Michael Weathers, Jazz Johnson and DJ Burns Jr. were great on the offensive end. Meanwhile, Joirdon Nicholas gave Challenge ALS some offense from the bench. However, this team is not nearly as deep as the Aftershocks. They’ll rely on a few players to give them big-time minutes. It almost wasn’t enough against Austin’s Own, and it probably won’t be enough against the Aftershocks.
