Just one day into the Madness that is March, and that word doesn’t even begin to describe it. Here are betting previews and picks for second-round matchups.

(1) Alabama Crimson Tide (-9) vs. (8) Maryland Terrapins | Total 144

Maryland defeated West Virginia by overcoming many Mountaineer runs and rallies in one of its most incredible performances of the season. The Terps were down 16-4 at one point in the first half and went eight minutes without scoring, but they managed to rally and retain a two-point lead at the break. Although neither side was able to pull away in the second half, the Terps managed to win when Kedrian Johnson of WVU missed a three-point attempt at the buzzer.

For the Crimson Tide in game one, three starters scored in double figures, while forward Nick Pringle led the Crimson Tide with 19 points off the bench in a game that was won by halftime. I like for another strong performance from top-seeded Alabama, as they run away with this one early.

The pick: Alabama -9 (-110)
