Aryna Sabalenka: 2023 French Open Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

For as much as Rafael Nadal has dominated the men’s side of the French Open with 14 career titles, there has been much more parity on the women’s side. The second major of the season begins on May 28, with the women’s final taking place on June 10. Roland Garros has celebrated eight different women’s champions in the last nine years, with Iga Swiatek (2020, 2022) the only repeat winner in that span. That is much of the reason Swiatek is the overwhelming odds-on favorite to win her fourth Grand Slam, as she looks to capitalize on the void left by Ashleigh Barty and Serena Williams as the next most dominant player in women’s tennis. Is a third title at Roland Garros a formality at this point for Swiatek, or will the tournament’s parity result in yet another unforeseen winner? Read on for our thoughts and predictions for the top contenders at the 2023 French Open.

2023 French Open Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Aryna Sabalenka

Here is our betting outlook for the 2023 French Open.

2023 French Open Betting Predictions

Sabalenka has the second-shortest odds in the women’s draw despite not ever advancing past the Round of 32 at Roland Garros. Sabalenka considerably raised her ceiling at this event when she beat Iga Swiatek to win in Madrid. However, perhaps she lost focus after a big win, as her straight-set loss in her first match at the Italian Open to Sofia Kenin was puzzling. Sabalenka did not draw the easiest first round opponent, as Marta Kostyuk won a WTA title in March. Sabalenka should advance past Kostyuk given that the Ukranian is 0-13 lifetime against top-10 opponents, but she needs to serve consistently (she surrendered 11 break point chances in the loss to Kenin) in order to match her other clay court success from this season.

2023 French Open Betting Advice & Picks

If seeding holds, Sabalenka would face native French favorite Caroline Garcia in the quarterfinals. Given that Garcia has won three of their five head-to-head matches and would have the crowd decidedly on her side, it gives us pause to back Sabalenka’s odds to win at Roland Garros. However, if she does advance out of her quarter, she avoids Iga Swiatek or Elena Rybakina until the finals, meaning she would likely be favored in her semifinal match.
