Avalanche vs. Lightning Game 5 Parlay Odds & Picks (2022)

The Stanley Cup Final shifts back to Denver as the Colorado Avalanche look to put away the back-to-back defending champion Tampa Bay Lightning. The Avs won game four by a final score of 3-2 in an overtime thriller thanks to a Nazem Kadri goal in his return to the ice. It was his first game in 18 days after missing time due to hand surgery. Who will be the hero in game five? Can the Avalanche get it done tonight and hoist the cup for the first time since 2001? Or will the pesky, experienced Bolts grind out a win and extend the series?

Below I’ve put together a four-leg parlay based on how I expect game five to play out. This one pays +598 over at DraftKings:

Tampa Bay Lightning (+160) vs. Colorado Avalanche (-190) O/U 6

(Puck Drop: 8:00 p.m. ET)

  • Leg 1: Kucherov Over 0.5 Points (-235)
  • Leg 2: MacKinnon Over 0.5 Points (-250)
  • Leg 3: Kuemper Over 25.5 Saves (-115)
  • Leg 4: Under 6 (-115)

The recipe for the Bolts is simple this postseason. Pepper the opposing goaltender and get Nikita Kucherov onto the scoresheet. Kuch has picked up a point in 11 out of the 13 Lightning wins this postseason. Look for Tampa Bay to apply heavy pressure on the forecheck all night to try and force turnovers in order to open up scoring opportunities. Similar to game four, I expect the Lightning to run up the shot total on Darcy Kuemper. Kuemper has only made 26+ saves in one game this series and it was game four (37/39). Look for a similar output from Tampa’s offense tonight.

On the flip side, it looks as if Nathan MacKinnon is on a mission this postseason. The star centerman has 21 points (12G, 9A) over 19 games in the playoffs. If the Avs want to finish off the defending champs, they’ll need MacKinnon to make his way onto the scoresheet.

All things considered, I’m expecting another low-scoring affair tonight at Ball Arena. Look for Andrei Vasilevskiy to stand on his head and give his team a chance to win. This guy is practically unbeatable in 5-on-5 situations. So if John Cooper reinforced anything at practice yesterday, it has to be for his guys to stay out of the box. Six out of the 16 (37.5%) Avalanche goals this series have come via the power play. In my opinion, if the Bolts can stay out of the box, this game stays under with ease.
