Avalanche vs. Stars: NHL Same Game Parlay Picks: Wednesday (5/15)

It is one of the more exciting times of the year: the Stanley Cup playoffs. What makes the NHL have such a special playoff run is that sometimes, the best team doesn't always win. There’s just one game, and it’s the chance to close out the first series of the second round. Let’s see if Dallas can move on or if Colorado can hold off. Here is my top NHL Same Game Parlay for tonight’s playoff game.

Wednesday's Best NHL Same Game Parlay: Avalanche vs. Stars

(Odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook)

Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars

  • Leg 1: Avalanche Moneyline (+124)
  • Leg 2: Cale Makar Over 0.5 Assists (-175)
  • Leg 3: Nathan MacKinnon Anytime Goal (-115)

Where has the Avalanche offense gone? The regular season's top-scoring offense has gone missing. They've scored two goals in the last two games and are on the verge of being sent home. Now, they have to go the rest of the way without their third-leading scorer in the regular season and goal leader in the playoffs, Valeri Nichushkin, who is suspended until next season.

The biggest problem with Colorado throughout the regular season is while they have one of the most talented top lines in the league, they lack depth. In the Winnipeg series, we started to see those deeper lines contribute, but we're seeing against Dallas that when Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, or Mikko Rantanen aren't providing the offense, their chances of winning are slim.

Alexander Georgiev has always had this offense to support him, but his inefficiencies are evident when the team isn't scoring. In this series, he has just a .879 save percentage and 3.19 goals allowed.

This is starting to look like the Dallas team that leads in points in the Western Conference. They are now dominating this series with a 60% expected goal share.

Wyatt Johnson stands out with his seven goals. We talk about Makar being one of the best two-way defensemen in the league, but we can't forget about Miro Heiskanen, who leads the team with 12 points (4G 8A). Jason Robertson continues to make an impact by spreading the puck with seven helpers. However, the depth is helping this team, with eight players having multiple goals and at least five points.

Most importantly, Jake Oettinger has been holding it down in the net. His 2.02 goals allowed lead all active goalies, and he has been a vault in the cage with a .961 save percentage in the last two games.

The Avs have to figure it out at some point, right? We’ve seen Dallas have trouble closing out series early, so this is a good spot to take Colorado to stay alive for at least one more game.
