As the Americas and the rest of Europe remain on lockdown, the country of Belarus has opted to keep life largely as normal, including their sporting leagues. Now entering the fourth week of their 2020 regular season, the Belarus Premier League table is beginning to take shape and team identities are starting to form.
With some stadiums more sparse than others, fans are still showing up, and bets are still being taken, so we shall oblige.
Let’s take a look at a Sunday afternoon matchup I have my eye on in Vysshaya Liga.

Dinamo Brest (-155) vs. FC Isloch (+380), 12:00 PM EST (via DraftKings Sportsbook)
Dinamo Brest will return home this weekend after playing last week’s match on the road against a formidable opponent in Slavia Mozyr, losing 1-2. Despite controlling the ball for 58% of the game and rattling off more shots and shots on target than their opponent, Brest couldn’t overcome a late goal by Mozyr’s Aleksandr Kotlyarov.
Brest is coming off their best season in team history after winning the league in 2019, breaking a streak held by BATE of 13 straight championships. The championship hangover is something to be wary of as Brest looks to repeat as champions.
For FC Isloch, their first loss of the season last week wasn’t due to a lack of effort. After trailing 1-0 heading into the half, four more goals were scored before it was all said and done with Isloch finding themselves on the wrong side of a 3-2 defeat.
Prior to last week’s contest, FC Isloch had played to consecutive 1-0 wins, squeaking by in each match by the skin of their teeth. In what was the most anticipated match of the week last Sunday, the number of goals scored appears to be more of an anomaly than the average.
Looking back to last season, Isloch finished their 2019 campaign in fifth place, just outside of the postseason but an impressive season none the less. It’s certainly something they are building upon in 2020.
