Recently announced to begin to play over the next month, German professional football league Bundesliga and the English Premier League will be the first major leagues of western Europe to restart. Not every European soccer league paused their play, however.

On the other side of the continent, the Belarusian Premier League (BPL) begins their ninth week of regular season play, having not missed a single practice or game since this all started.

With nearly a third of the season complete, the team’s identities are taking shape as their form has improved each week. With bookmaker’s attention now shifting to the rest of Europe’s more popular leagues, we’re in the perfect position to continue using our knowledge of the BPL to cash tickets as summer unfolds.

Let’s take a look at a Saturday morning matchup between two of the league’s movers that I have my eye on.

Energetik BGU (+285) vs. Dinamo Brest (-125), 8:00 AM EST (via DraftKings Sportsbook)

The youngest (and most volatile) team in the league by a landslide, Energetik BGU has been a rollercoaster to follow through the first eight games of the season. After starting 2-0 and looking like the team to beat, they proceeded to drop three straight against very average looking squads.

A physical match against Smolevichi two weeks ago put the boys back on track, winning 2-0. They followed it up with a 2-1 last week on the road against a quality Slutsk team. Taking a 2-1 lead into the half, Energetik overcame a 71′ red card to hold on while receiving three more yellows before it was all said and done.

For Dinamo Brest, the defending champs lost three of four in league play throughout April, and they also got knocked out of Belarus Cup contention at the hands of Shakhter. Since that defeat, however, Brest has played an inspired brand of football, winning their two matches since with an aggregate goal total of 5-1.

While Energetik undoubtedly has a bright future in this league, and a 2020 postseason run might even be in the cards, the more veteran and solid Brest are starting to get their legs. In this one, I think Energetik’s inconsistent brand of play catches up with them against a team looking to make their run up the table sooner rather than later.

Pick: Dinamo Brest -125
