As summer begins in just a few weeks, the rest of Europe is starting to slowly re-open. With that, the German professional league Bundesliga and the English Premier League will resume play over the next month.

On the other side of Europe, the Belarusian Premier League (BPL) has arguably laid the groundwork for what that re-opening might look like, as they now enter their ninth week of regular season play.

While the western European leagues will get more eyeballs (and bets), the BPL forges on. I see the diminished attention as a better chance for us to cash tickets, so let’s take a look at one Sunday morning matchup I have my eye on.

While the top half of the table has featured plenty of movement through the first third of the regular season, the bottom has not. Since starting the season 0-3 by scoring just one goal over that stretch, Belshina continues to weigh the table down. They currently have only two points and a record of 0-2-6.

The last time we saw them on the pitch was one of their more complete matches of the season, however. They controlled the ball for the majority (53%) of the game, but they failed to convert the handful of chances they had. Their 12 corner kicks on the game, a season-high, was indicative of their ability to push in Isloch’s final 40 yards.

On the other side of this matchup, Vitebsk faces the opposite set of problems. After starting the season winning two of three, they have now failed to win in nearly a month, scoring just three goals over their last four games.

Last weekend against Shakhter Soligorsk, Vitebsk played to a 0-0 draw in a physical match that saw a total of seven cards, including a soft red. Though they controlled the ball for slightly more time than their opponent, Vitebsk only managed two shots on target and failed to advance the ball much.

Though Vitebsk hasn’t played their best football as of late, they ran into one of the top teams in the league last weekend and held their own. For Belshina, though, we’ve seen more goals from them in the previous three weeks than we have all season. They’ve done little to prove they are ready for their first win.

I like Vitebsk to get back on track in this one.

Pick: Vitebsk -127 (Draw No Bet)
