As the sporting world in the United States begins to emerge from the shadows of the coronavirus pandemic, a small league in Belarus has been humming along from the start. They now enter their 16th week of regular season play. The Belarus Premier League (BPL) will go down in history as one the first (and initially only) football leagues to start-up operations during the pandemic.

With the halfway point of the season now behind us, the movers and shakers of the league are starting to emerge in what promises to be an exciting back half of the BPL season. As of this writing, six teams sit within five points of first, and the league is more competitive than it’s been in quite some time.

Let’s take a look at a Sunday morning matchup I have my eye on.

FC Minsk (-125) vs. Belshina Bobruisk (+330): Sunday, 9:00 AM EST

(Odds via DraftKings Sportsbook)

After being the very last team to secure a win, which came against Energetik-BGU three weeks ago, Belshina has returned to their losing ways. They currently have a record of 1-3-11, and their -22 goal differential is by far the worst in the league. Most weeks, their games were over before they started.

The last time we saw them on the pitch was an 0-3 defeat on the road at the struggling Rukh Brest, and they hit the road again in this one.

On the other side of this Eastern European affair, FC Minsk hasn’t exactly been lighting up scoreboards themselves. At 2-2-6 over their last 10, FC Minsk has the second-worst goal differential in the league at -10 as of this writing.

Last week, we saw them finish with a positive result, however. They played second-place Shakhtyor Sologorsk to a 1-1 draw in a very competitive game.

After their last combined eight games, these two teams have scored a total of three goals. I like the total to go well under what’s listed for this one.

Prediction: UNDER 2.5 Goals (-177)
