As the rest of the world is struggling to end lockdowns, the Belarusian Premier League remains blissfully unaware. The league hasn’t skipped a single practice or game since its season began around two months ago.
With not even a third of the season complete, teams’ futures in the table are starting to take shape as their form rounds into quality.
We have six matches to get us through the weekend, and I’ve identified one on Sunday morning battle that still offers quite a bit of value for those looking to get down.

Seven games into the 2020 Vyssha Liga season and Vitebsk has been the definition of average. Currently sitting dead in the middle of the table with a record of 3-1-3, Vitebsk has a -2 goal differential and has struggled to find the back of the net with just six goals in the campaign.
Last time we saw them on the pitch, they played a back-and-forth match against Slavia Mozyr. The game ended in a 2-3 defeat after an 88′ goal from Slavia forward Evgeni Klopotskiy. With the loss, Vitebsk failed to win for the third time in four games, and things won’t be getting much easier this week.
On the other side of this contest, Shakhtyor Soligorsk remains my current favorite to win the league. Through the last few weeks, they’ve rounded into quality form. And despite their slow start to the season, Shaktyor has rattled off six goals through the previous two weeks, finding themselves surging toward the top of the table.
Led by midfielder Sergei Balanovich and his three goals on the season, Shakhtyor is beginning to hit their stride. Meanwhile, Vitebsk has shown little but continued regression. I like the more talented and currently hotter Shakhtyor to get this one done with relative ease.
