Bengals vs. Bills: 2023 NFL AFC Divisional Round Odds, Picks & Predictions (Sunday)

Josh Allen and Joe Burrow, two quarterbacks competing in the Pro Bowl yet again this year, were supposed to face off for the first time earlier this month.

Destiny, however, had other plans.

Instead, when the second-seeded Buffalo Bills play host to the third-seeded Cincinnati Bengals in an AFC Divisional playoff game on Sunday afternoon in Orchard Park, N.Y., the two gunslingers will engage in their first official duel on a much larger stage.

Let’s take a closer look at how it might shake out.

Cincinnati Bengals vs. Buffalo Bills

Overview

While Allen is attempting to lead Buffalo into the AFC Championship Game for the second time in three seasons, Burrow is the first QB in Cincinnati to win postseason games in consecutive seasons.

Both teams are on a winning streak coming into this one, as the Bengals have won nine straight games while the Bills have won eight straight.

Last year, when the Bengals unexpectedly made it to the Super Bowl and fell to the Los Angeles Rams, they were the surprise team. No more, however, as together with the Buffalo Bills and the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs, make three AFC contenders for many years to come.

This postseason has already been trying for both teams.

Sam Hubbard, a defensive end, scored the game-winning points on the Bengals’ record-breaking 98-yard fumble return against the Baltimore Ravens in the wild-card stage of playoffs.

Buffalo, meanwhile, has now triumphed in 13 of its previous 14 playoff home games with a 34-31 victory over the Miami Dolphins. Before shoddy play—three turnovers—let the Dolphins back into the game, the Bills had a 17-0 lead.

It should be noted that the Bills are participating in their third consecutive divisional round, with a 1-1 record over that span.

Bottom Line

The Bengals will be down three starting offensive linemen after losing left tackle Jonah Williams to a dislocated kneecap during the victory over Baltimore. An already depleted offensive line, both right guard Alex Cappa and right tackle La’el Collins had prior injuries. Additionally absent from Cincinnati’s practice on Wednesday was cornerback Tre Flowers (hamstring).

For the Bills, outside of Hamlin, this is a team that largely avoided any major injuries down the stretch and come into this one relatively healthy.

This Buffalo team continues to feel like one of destiny, and I think they get the job done here once again.

Pick: Bills -5.5 (-110)
