Best Bets to Win the 3M Open (PGA Betting)

Coming off a tough betting week where we saw the last golfer announced in the Rocket Mortgage Classic win the event and Dustin Johnson miss the cut, we will look to get back on track. This win was huge for Nate Lashley and his career, and it is especially good to see after his parents and girlfriend perished in a plane crash in 2004. Last week was a reminder that easy courses on Tour that offer plenty of birdie opportunities are a good time to look for value down the board and take some chances. Both Lashley and Doc Redmon, who finished No. 1 and 2, were offered at 250/1 or greater on most sportsbooks.

Course Preview: TPC Twin Cities
The PGA Tour will once again head to a new venue, as the 3M Open makes its debut at TPC Twin Cities in Blaine, Minneapolis. TPC Twin Cities is a par 71, 7,468-yard long course that is riddled with multiple water hazards. The course was lengthened in anticipation of the PGA Tour’s debut and was a consistent stop for the Champions Tour. It is important to note that in each of the last seven years TPC Twin Cities ranked first or second in birdies among 54-hole Champions stops. The Greens are bentgrass and the field is relatively strong with the likes of Brooks Koepka, Jason Day, Hideki Matsuyama, and Bryson DeChambeau in the mix.

Outright Bets

Keegan Bradley (40/1 on William Hill Sportsbook)
If Bradley can get even the slightest bit hot with the putter, he will no doubt be in contention in the majority of golf tournaments he’s in. He is the fourth best approach player on Tour, and accuracy with the irons will be pivotal this week due to all of the water. Keegan is ranked 22nd in tee-to-green and is coming off a T-2 performance at the Travelers a couple of weeks ago. With five top-25s and three top-10s on the season, Bradley is close to breaking through.

Rory Sabbatini (40/1 on William Hill Sportsbook)
Another golfer who is in superb form of late, Sabbatini appears to be very close to winning a PGA Tour title. Sabbatini placed third last week at the Rocket Mortgage Classic and now has five top-10 finishes in his last eight outings. This upcoming tournament will be a similar “birdie fest” that should provide him with plenty of opportunities to go low. He is 29th on Tour in birdie average this year and 33rd in strokes gained: total. If he can remain consistent in all facets of his game this upcoming week expect him to be in contention once again.

Wyndham Clark (100/1 with top-5 each way on William Hill Sportsbook)
This is a good value bet for a trending golfer who is a big-time bomber of the golf ball and makes plenty of birdies. Clark is sneakily 17th in the PGA in birdies or better this year. His length off the tee (seventh in driving distance) will benefit him this week at a lengthened golf course. Coming off of a T-17 last week and a T-15 at the Travelers the week before, Clark is in excellent form. Ninth in strokes gained: putting this year, Clark is as good on the greens as they get.

Corey Conners (100/1 with top-5 each way on William Hill Sportsbook)
Conners is a proven winner on Tour who is one of the sharpest iron players in the entire PGA. He is 22nd in strokes gained: approach and No. 1 in Greens In Regulation. While he struggles tremendously with the putter, bentgrass surfaces fit him best and the greens at TPC Twin Cities are said to be flat and very true. Very long and accurate off the tee (9th in SG: Off the Tee), this course should fit him well if he can get on a roll and knock in some putts.
