Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers
The Timberwolves put themselves in a frenzy before tonight’s game. Rudy Gobert is suspended and Jaden McDaniels has a fractured hand.
Even Karl-Anthony Towns is questionable with a calf injury tonight. I’m sure he’ll play, but things just aren’t favoring Minnesota right now.
Add on D’Angelo Russell and the other former Timberwolves players wanting revenge and the Lakers look like clear favorites to win tonight at home.
The Lakers can get to the foul line at a high rate and have Anthony Davis and LeBron James healthy enough to play a complete game. The defense has also held opponents to a 53.9% effective field goal percentage and while the Lakers won’t earn a lot of turnovers, they’ll keep Minnesota off the foul line.
Even with Gobert, the Timberwolves weren’t dominant on the offensive glass and without him, it’ll be even more challenging. Minnesota has turned the ball over 15.1% of the time and also gets to the foul line at a below-average rate.
On the defensive end, again they’ll be without Gobert, a former Defensive Player of the Year. The Timberwolves foul a lot but will limit teams to a lower effective field goal percentage.
I’m sure Minnesota will compete but I like the Lakers to eventually pull away as Minnesota continues to get frustrated when things don’t go their way.
Bet: Lakers -8 (-110)
