Best Bets for Lions vs. Cardinals

If this game were being played at Ford Field…it would be one of my best over bets of the week. But that said…Arizona home games have been pretty fun for high totals, especially with Jacoby “Brisket” Brissett under center. The number is massive, but it might not matter given how bad the Lions’ defense is (who are down yet another CB). Trey McBride and Michael Wilson could have a field day versus this defense. And nobody is stopping this Lions offense. At least that’s what the conventional wisdom would suggest. One angle that could thwart scoring for DET is that Arizona’s rush defense ranks No. 1 in efficiency (EPA/rush faced). Also, Lions OC Drew Petzing was with Arizona for the last several seasons, so the defense might be able to key in more on some of his tendencies. I know this argument works both ways, but the total/spread suggests the market is betting on only one side of this coin. Take advantage.

The Lions defensively can also generate pressure (8th in pressure rate), which could make life tough for Brissett at times given he just lost his stud LT Paris Johnson Jr. We have seen offenses crumble at times when they lose stalworth pieces…but again the market doesn’t even seem to consider this a factor.

As I write this out…I’m convinced this game will finish under 54.5 points. A big number gives us plenty of room for error, even if one team scores in the 30s. These teams are combining for just under 52 PPG.

Best NFL Same Game Parlay for Lions vs. Cardinals

Here is our top NFL same game parlay for Lions vs. Cardinals. And you can view all of our Week 5 NFL same game parlays.

Detroit is allowing a league-high 9.3 receptions per game to tight ends this year. Plus, the Lions allow 101.8 receiving yards per game to the position, the second-highest in the league. It all sets up Trey McBride to go dominate.

The stud tight end had only 31 yards last week, but he still saw 12 targets and had seven receptions. Jacoby Brissett continues to look his way, usually leading to a high floor. This matchup just increases McBride's chances for a big performance. Bank on him to go for 80+ yards and at least nine receptions to anchor this parlay.

Plus, Brissett should be throwing it a ton against this shaky Detroit defense. The Lions are allowing a league-high 327 passing yards per game to opposing quarterbacks. Their 41.3 pass attempts allowed per contest is also the second-most in the NFL. Brissett, meanwhile, has at least 35 pass attempts in three of four games this year. He also has at least 35 attempts in 12 of his last 16 games, including last season.

Despite the Arizona love thus far, Amon-Ra St. Brown has a great opportunity to score this week. The Cardinals have allowed a league-high eight touchdowns to opposing wide receivers this season. St. Brown, meanwhile, has five touchdowns through four games. The stars should align this week after being held out last game.

What is an NFL player prop bet?

An NFL player prop bet is a type of wager where you’re betting on the performance of a specific player in a game rather than the overall outcome. For example, you might place a bet on how many passing yards a quarterback will throw for, or how many touchdowns a running back will score. It’s a fun way to get more invested in the action, especially if you’re confident in how a particular player will perform, regardless of who wins or loses the game. It’s like focusing on one slice of the pie instead of the whole thing.
