Here are some of Andrew Erickson’s top picks for Texans vs. Titans. And check out all of his top picks for NFL Week 5.
Best Bets for Texans vs. Titans
This line screams to me: Texans win, but the Titans cover the 7.5. Both teams are winless, which makes a touchdown-plus a bit generous for Houston (who is also 0-4 ATS this season). Home divisional underdogs have been cooking this year, so that, along with the under (Texans defense + Titans offense), seems like the no-brainer way to attack this AFC South matchup.
Houston’s defense should have its best game to date, since the Titans are by far the worst offense they have faced all season (BUF, CIN, IND, DAL). HC DeMeco Ryans has also taken back defensive play-calling duties.
Erickson’s Picks
- Titans +7.5
- Under 38
Best NFL Same Game Parlay for Texans vs. Titans
Here is our top NFL same game parlay for Texans vs. Titans. And you can view all of our Week 5 NFL same game parlays.
- Leg 1: Titans Team Total Under 16.5 Points (-150)
- Leg 2: Wan'Dale Robinson Over 32.5 Receiving Yards (-113)
- Leg 3: Woody Marks 10+ Rushing Attempts (+110)
Who's interested in a pair of 0-4 AFC South teams facing off this week? It's been a disappointing season for the Texans and Titans, as they both aim for their first win of the year. Houston should be more desperate, and head coach DeMeco Ryans is calling it upon himself.
Ryans will be taking over defensive play-calling duties this week. The Texans are allowing 27.3 points per game (PPG) this season, but this change should spark the defense for a good performance against a divisional opponent. Expect a spirited, focused effort from Houston's defense as it shuts down Tennessee, which is averaging just 13.8 PPG this year.
Wan'Dale Robinson, though, can be a bright spot for the Titans. The Texans are allowing the second-most receiving yards per game to opposing wide receivers. Most of that production has been by slot-type wideouts. It was CeeDee Lamb (189 yards) last week, Josh Downs (77) and Keenan Allen (63) the game prior, and Ja'Marr Chase (75) before that. Even Khalil Shakir had 50 yards in this matchup.
Carnell Tate has been Tennessee's top wideout this season, but the Texans will look to quiet him this week, especially with Ryan now running the defense. It should open up for Robinson to be productive. He has only 123 yards through four games, but he also went over 32.5 in two of them. It's a low bar for him to reach.
Meanwhile, count on Woody Marks to take on a bigger workload in the Houston backfield. There have been rumblings that Marks could get more carries than David Montgomery moving forward, as the former has looked more explosive and efficient. That shift might come this week, with the Texans in desperation mode. It helps that the Titans are allowing a league-high 27.5 rush attempts per game to running backs.

What is an NFL player prop bet?
An NFL player prop bet is a type of wager where you’re betting on the performance of a specific player in a game rather than the overall outcome. For example, you might place a bet on how many passing yards a quarterback will throw for, or how many touchdowns a running back will score. It’s a fun way to get more invested in the action, especially if you’re confident in how a particular player will perform, regardless of who wins or loses the game. It’s like focusing on one slice of the pie instead of the whole thing.
