NFL Player Props, Picks & Predictions: Vikings vs. Saints

Here are some of Andrew Erickson’s top picks for Vikings vs. Saints. And check out all of his top picks for NFL Week 5.

Best Bets for Vikings vs. Saints

Kyler Murray hasn’t looked good behind this banged-up Vikings offensive line.

So even though Minnesota is 4-0, I think that just means you’re getting value on the home team. The Saints just got destroyed on MNF by the Atlanta Falcons, so that feels to be inflating the spread in favor of the road team.

I understand Brian Flores will be a tough out for any quarterback, especially a QB like Tyler Shough, who will definitely make mistakes against that defense.

But no game with the Saints is flawless anyway, so even with the turnovers that are inevitably going to happen baked in, I have no confidence betting on Murray to go on the road in New Orleans behind a compromised offensive line.

I like the Saints as an underdog upset special this week (squad riding with Seth Woolcock’s upset of the week), while 100% backing the under.

    • The Saints are 1-4 O/U as home underdogs in the Kellen Moore era.
    • Minnesota is 9-19 O/U as a favorite since 2013.
    • Kyler Murray is just 15-21-0 (41.7%) ATS as a market favorite.

Best NFL Same Game Parlay for Vikings vs. Saints

Here is our top NFL same game parlay for Vikings vs. Saints. And you can view all of our Week 5 NFL same game parlays.

Anyone else catch what the Falcons just did to the Saints' rush defense? Atlanta racked up 205 rushing yards on 5.9 yards per carry, with Bijan Robinson gaining 145 of those yards, against New Orleans on Monday Night Football. This run defense has clear issues right now, and Aaron Jones should benefit from the soft matchup.

Jones is getting a heavy workload with Jordan Mason still on injured reserve (IR). He's seen 23, 17 and 20 carries over the past three games. That's resulted in rushing totals of 105, 58 and 94 yards. Jones now faces a Saints defense allowing 5.1 yards per carry, the fourth-highest mark in the NFL. New Orleans also gave up 156 rushing yards to Jahmyr Gibbs back in Week 1.

After a quiet start to the season, T.J. Hockenson just exploded for 119 yards on 13 receptions last week. That came against the Dolphins, who have struggled to cover tight ends. Well, the Saints are another defense with issues against the position, allowing the fifth-most receiving yards per game to opposing tight ends. Hockenson could see increased targets again with Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison both questionable.

Meanwhile, it's rinse-and-repeat time for Chris Olave. The Saints star wideout has now racked up 491 receiving yards this season, averaging 122.8 per game. He has at least 86 yards and eight receptions in each game. Plus, he has 80+ yards in seven straight games going back to last season. The connection between Olave and Tyler Shough is undeniable, and the pair should be busy once again this week.

What is an NFL player prop bet?

An NFL player prop bet is a type of wager where you’re betting on the performance of a specific player in a game rather than the overall outcome. For example, you might place a bet on how many passing yards a quarterback will throw for, or how many touchdowns a running back will score. It’s a fun way to get more invested in the action, especially if you’re confident in how a particular player will perform, regardless of who wins or loses the game. It’s like focusing on one slice of the pie instead of the whole thing.
