Davante Adams Receiving Yards
The Rams (3-2) are coming off a horrid 26-23 overtime loss to the 49ers last Thursday, and they'll try to bounce back against a Ravens (1-4) team that is severely injured. This heavyweight matchup kicks off on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET from M&T Stadium in Baltimore, MD.
For starters, Los Angeles had the "mini bye" to get healthy and fully prepare for Baltimore, since they're coming off a Thursday night game. Factor in that the Rams completely laid an egg last time out, and we should see them fix their struggles and bounce back in a big way. They'll take on a Ravens defense that, whether healthy or injured, has been gashed this season. Baltimore is 31st in passing yards allowed per game (262.4).
Meanwhile, all eyes are on Puka Nacua in Los Angeles, and rightfully so, considering he has a league-leading 588 yards on 52 receptions. But don't forget about the excellent season that Davante Adams is putting together. He has gone for 357 receiving yards (13th) on 22 receptions (30th). Adams is the fifth-most targeted receiver (9.2 per game) in the NFL. Being that he's lined roughly 30 yards shorter than Nacua, I think it makes more sense to play him to climb the ladder against this injury-plagued defense.
Rashid Shaheed Yards
Let's head over to the Big Easy, where the Saints (1-4) are looking to build on their big 26-14 win over the Giants. They'll host the upward-trending Patriots (3-2). This NFC showdown gets underway at 1:00 p.m. ET from the Caesars Sportsdome in New Orleans, LA.
Rashid Shaheed is a pure speedster. He clocked in at north of 21 miles per hour (MPH) on his 87-yard touchdown catch last weekend against the Giants. The 114-yard performance was the third time that he has cleared the 44.5-yard threshold this season. I love taking a flier on players with his type of speed, because all it takes is one catch-and-run to get us a majority of the way up the ladder. Even if the deep ball isn't in the cards, it's worth mentioning that Shaheed has been getting steady work in the passing game, averaging a respectable six targets per contest.
One of my hotter takes in the NFL is that Spencer Rattler is a capable starter in this league. He'll have another chance to prove that this weekend when he and this solid receiving group take on a New England pass defense that hasn't been overpowering this year. The Pats are allowing 242.2 passing yards per game (26th) and 10.9 yards per pass completion (30th). Pro Football Focus (PFF) has New England graded 24th in both pass coverage (52.7) and tackling (44.8). I'm selling high on the Patriots in this spot - give me Shaheed to have another big game.
Jahmyr Gibbs Rushing Yards
Don't look now, but the Lions have won four straight games and are 4-1. They'll try to keep things rolling when they head west to take on the struggling Chiefs (2-3). This is the Sunday Night Football matchup, and the game kicks off at 8:20 p.m. ET from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, MO.
It's strange seeing the Chiefs sit at just 2-3, but one of the reasons for their early-season issues is the inability to stop the run. Kansas City is allowing 123.4 rushing yards per game (21st) and 4.8 yards per rushing attempt (26th). The Chiefs have the 26th-best rushing defense (57), according to PFF.
Well, have fun trying to stop this dynamic Detroit rushing attack. The Lions are graded by PFF as the third-best run blocking unit (73.1), and that has translated to the stat sheet as well, where they're seventh in rushing yards per game (134.8). As for Jahmyr Gibbs specifically, he's 12th in rushing yards (325) and 15th in carries (70). Even with the split between him and David Montgomery, Gibbs is still getting a sizable workload. He has gone for 66+ yards three times this season, as well as eclipsing the 90-yard threshold twice. I'm taking Gibbs to carve up the Chiefs this weekend.
