Last week’s game between the Pirates and Guardians was postponed due to air quality concerns, voiding our Brayan Rocchio 5-star prop bet. Let’s take another crack at it today. At the time of writing, the MLB prop bet cheat sheet for Friday listed 25 player props with a 100% hit rate over the last five games - with only one labeled as a 5-star bet.

We are once again looking at the combo prop market today. This time it’s Shea Langeliers of the Athletics, whom the prop bet sheet likes to go over 1.5 combined hits + runs + RBIs.

The slugging Athletics catcher has hit the over on this combo prop in seven straight games, and has a 56.5% hit rate to the over on the season. During his seven-game over streak, Langeliers has averaged 2.7 combined hits + runs + RBIs, including a high of four and three additional performances of three combined hits + runs + RBIs.

Langeliers hits near the top of the order, putting him in a great spot to produce an RBI or be driven home himself. His 51 runs batted in rank 57th in the league, while his 55 runs are tied for the 42nd-most in the Majors. Langeliers’ 98 hits just barely miss out on ranking in the top 40. It doesn’t hurt that the Athletics have scored the 13th-most (458) runs this season.

Friday night’s opposing pitcher is Zebby Matthews of the Minnesota Twins, who has allowed an average of 9.75 combined runs+ hits across 12 starts. In an extremely slim, two-at-bat sample size, Langeliers is 0-2 versus Matthews in his career. The splits aren’t in his favor either, as the right-handed Matthews has allowed a near-universal lower slash line to right-handed bats, like Langeliers (.254/.291/.508 vs. .281/.350/.479), and Langeliers has hit lefties better than righties (.325 vs. .236 batting average).
