Who’s the best value to win the NCAAB Tournament?

Virginia Cavaliers: 9/2
“The odds look just about spot on to me with the exception of Duke being too high and Gonzaga/Virginia being too low. I understand that when fully healthy, Duke has only lost one game, but let’s not be so quick to forget that Virginia was the No. 1 team in the country virtually the entire season. They can shoot the lights out from downtown and perhaps most importantly, have the easiest path out of their region in the entire tournament. They take on the only seed lower than a 5, with Oregon in the Sweet 16 then draw what is likely the weakest 2-seed in the bracket. With those matchups, you’d have to think they are more likely to make the Final Four than even Duke.”

North Carolina Tarheels: 7/1
“I’m not sure why UNC has the fourth-best odds to win it all despite having arguably the easiest path. Sure, Auburn could go unconscious from three again, but the Tar Heels are more talented, while Kentucky is dealing with an injury to leading scorer PJ Washington. From there, anything can happen and while Virginia already beat UNC, I’d take the Heels in a rematch with an improved Coby White. Florida State and Texas Tech at 20/1 are also intriguing if you don’t believe in Gonzaga.”

LSU Tigers: 50/1
“LSU was the team I wrote about before the tournament when they were at 75/1 odds, so I’m not backing off now. They arguably have the most raw talent out of the 16 teams remaining. Yes, they have the toughest schedule ahead, which is why their odds are like this, but they are capable of emerging from this region. And if they do, I don’t think they will be stopped in the Final Four. Both Duke and Michigan State had some bad stretches in the first weekend, so without a doubt, LSU is the best value bet heading into this weekend. Make sure you have some money on the Tigers.”
