Best WNBA Bets: Liberty vs. Fever (Saturday)
The 2025 WNBA season is a week old, and we've already seen some fireworks. The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx being at the top of the food chain seems to make sense so far, and the Indiana Fever has been delightful TV. The ‘Fighting Caitlin Clarks’ face off against the Liberty on CBS in what should be a jaw-dropping event, while the Dallas Wings face the Atlanta Dream. I'll be coming at you twice a week - Saturdays and Mondays - to give you my best bets and hopefully provide some winners. Last year was a profitable season, and I hope to have another profitable season in 2025. As a reminder, I must advise you to shop around for the best odds and keep track of lineup news. Staying on track of the news is a great way to stay ahead of the market, and shopping around will help with the seasonal return on investment (ROI). New York Liberty vs. Indiana Fever Best WNBA Bets
As mentioned, it's been pretty on par this year for both squads. Natasha Cloud has been a surprise in her first season with New York, averaging 20 points a night over her first pair of games. Sabrina Ionescu has taken a bit of a back seat with only eight points in the season opener, while the rest of the squad has been taking care of business.
Indiana, meanwhile, has lived up to the hype so far with their loss coming by a single point, followed by a revenge win. Their offense is a sight to behold and only seems to be improving. It will be interesting to see what the Liberty throws at them on the road this early afternoon.
My biggest question is how the Fever will stop the Liberty's offense. New York has a whopping 115.8 offensive rating to start the year, and the Fever finished as the second-worst defense a year ago. Even just adjusting for the final 15 games of the year, they ranked 10th. They are improving, but it's not as if all the gears are in the right place for Indiana yet, whereas it seems New York hasn't missed a beat from a year ago.
I expect the second-half Fever to be a force to be reckoned with, but I'm still trusting my priors for now and fading the hype train. What I see moving this line a lot is the fact that it's a nationally televised home Caitlin Clark game on the weekend. People want to bet the Fever, and I don't blame them, but I'm going with the former champs here.
Pick: Liberty -3.5 (-110)
