BMW Championship PGA Tour Betting Odds, Picks & Guide (2022)

The top 70 players in the world will be on hand this week in Wilmington, DE, as the FedEx Cup playoffs are now down to their second to last week of the season ahead of next week’s Tour Championship. With no 36-hole cut, this will be the last week to earn FedEx Cup points used to determine next week’s starting point, with the top 30 in the field advancing or one final week.

Let’s take a closer look at the course, the field, and who has the remaining value as the first tee approaches on Thursday morning.

Course Preview: Wilmington Country Club

Long an amateur event course, this week will mark the first pro event hosted at Wilmington CC, creating an even more level playing field with zero course history to go off of, except for Justin Thomas competing here in the 2013 Palmer Cup. The course itself comes in well over the Tour average at 7,534 and is a tree-lined masterpiece with up and down lies throughout.

With massive greens, the approach will be less important than last week, as there will be a greater emphasis on length, with two par-5s coming in at 600+ yards. Accurate drivers will also be rewarded, as the rough is thick and will be a bear to play out off, especially around the green, which is bentgrass and fast.

Max Homa (+3500 on DraftKings Sportsbook

With nothing to go off of as far as course history, we start to look at courses that compare to Wilmington CC, and TPC Potomac outside of Washington, DC comes to the top of the list. A course Homa won at just a few months ago.

Coming into week #29 on Tour in SG: Off-the-Tee, Homa has climbed up the rankings in that metric each week over the past few weeks as his distance off the tee continues to improve the longer he’s been steady on Tour. With one of the most consistent drives on Tour, Homa should be able to use them to his advantage this week at a course that demands it.

Still looking for his first top 35 in a FedEx playoffs event, Homa took one step closer last week with a T42 at the St. Judes, and I think we see him in contention come Sunday in Delaware.
