British Open 2022: Best Parlay Odds & Picks

We’re just a few days away from the 2022 British Open, as the 150th edition will be live from St. Andrews beginning on Thursday. With Tiger Woods making his return for his third start of the season, all eyes, at least early, will certainly be on the 14-time major champion.

While the likelihood of Woods picking up his fourth Open Championship is certainly slim, there are a few other players I expect to perform well enough to land high on the leaderboard. Let’s take a closer look at a juicy three-leg parlay I have cooked up for this week’s action.

Leg #1. Xander Schauffele – Top 10 (+150)

While Scottie Scheffler’s run earlier this season that culminated in him winning the 2022 Masters was impressive, Shauffele’s recent performances are right there. Of his last seven tournaments, Schauffele has finished T18 or better in all seven, with three outright wins and four top-fives.

It’s also worth noting he is four for four in made cuts at the British Open and finished T2 in 2018. Add in plenty of high-pressure experience playing links golf, and I expect Schauffele to be sniffing the top of the leader board come Sunday at St. Andrews.

Leg #2. Dustin Johnson – Top 20 (+160)

DJ has dropped to #18 in the world rankings since joining LIV and will continue to fall due to his lack of action on the PGA Tour. But that doesn’t mean he is any less of an elite golfer. Last year, DJ finished T8 in the British Open, and so far this season, as two top 25s in the other three majors.

When we saw him here in 2015, DJ held the lead going into the weekend before falling off late. With his jump to LIV and inaction on the Tour, I think we’re getting an undervalued DJ, and I like him to be lurking come the weekend at St. Andrews.

Leg #3. Jon Rahm – Top 40 (-295)

So far this season, Rahm has made 14 of 15 cuts and comes into St. Andrews largely under the radar since failing to win any big tournaments thus far. Last year, Rahm turned in his best British Open result, finishing T3 at Royal St. Georges following three straight days in the 60s before a 70+ on Sunday.

So far this major season, Rahm has made all three cuts, with his best result coming at the US Open (T12). If Rahm can keep his drives in play this week, he has the distance and the short game to do well, and I would like him to be in the upper half on Sunday.
