As we move into Matchday 34, it brings us to the conclusion of the Bundesliga season. After a sporting year that’s been nothing short of bizarre, the players will be happy to close the final chapter. As far as our picks have gone, we’re at 13-11 on the year, so as long as we don’t get swept off the board on the final week of action, it will have been a (somewhat) productive year for us.

Wolfsburg vs. FC Bayern Munich

Odds: Wolfsburg +310, Draw +330, Munich -140

What could have been a fantastic game really only has something in it for one of its competitors. FC Bayern Munich have already won the title, beating out competition from the likes of Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig to claim the crown. Wolfsburg, however, still has something to play for. The Wolves and Hoffenheim are currently on 49 points, with just goal differences separating the two, and they’ll both compete for a sixth-place finish this weekend.

Of course, Bayern Munich are in wonderful form. They have not dropped points since early in February, and they last lost a match on December 7th. That said, they will be far more relaxed going into this fixture, with the title already wrapped up. Wolfsburg, on the other hand, are a different story. Their form since the restart has been very mixed, including results like a 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig and a 3-0 defeat to Borussia Mönchengladbach. They have been equally inconsistent against big teams, so going into this game, it’s difficult to say which Wolfsburg team will turn up.

Overall, despite Bayern Munich’s incredible form, I can see a competitive Wolfsburg team taking them on. We can get Wolfsburg +1 at +105 to protect ourselves a little bit, and that’s what I’ll do.

Pick: Wolfsburg +1 +105 at FanDuel Sportsbook

Borussia Dortmund vs. Hoffenheim

Odds: Dortmund -130, Draw +320, Hoffenheim +310

Similar to the Bayern/Wolfsburg clash, this game only has one team with anything left to play for. Dortmund’s second-place finish is locked in, with RB Leipzig their closest competitor (six points back). Hoffenheim currently sits in seventh, trailing Wolfsburg on goal difference. Dai Kraichgauer needs Wolfsburg to slip up against Bayern Munich — or a miracle in terms of goal difference — and they must gain points in both of these scenarios. A loss for Hoffenheim simply won’t be good enough, but with Europa League qualification up for grabs, they certainly have some extra incentive to do well.

BVB have been fairly consistent since the restart. They have lost just twice, once against a remarkable Bayern Munich side, and they’ve recorded some impressive wins. For example, they smacked last-place Paderborn 6-1. Again, though, being locked into their position means that there is very little to play for.

Since we’re again looking at a big dog, I’ll take Hoffenheim at +1 +100 to protect myself a little bit.

Augsburg vs. RB Leipzig

Odds: Augsburg +600, Draw +440, RB Leipzig -270

With virtually no risk of dropping outside the Champions League qualification spots, RB Leipzig just needs to put on a good performance to keep third place. Borussia Mönchengladbach have to face Hertha Berlin, and with a good chance that they win that game, the Red Bulls must beat 15th place Augsburg.

Augsburg could pull off a remarkable jump on the final day if results go their way. The Fuggerstädter are safe from relegation, and with the right scores in various games of interest to them, they could reach 11th place, overtaking the likes of Schalke and FC Köln. I don’t know how much of a motivating factor that is, though.

RB Leipzig has a different objective going into this game: remain in third place. They have been the best of the rest this season so far (behind Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich), and they’ll hope to cement that on Matchday 34. This will also be a Bundesliga farewell for Chelsea-bound forward Timo Werner, who will depart Leipzig this summer. They also have several players being eyed by top clubs, among them center-back Dayot Upamecano.

Despite the potential for a heroic jump from Augsburg, RB Leipzig have better squad quality and better form. And, with Timo Werner keen to score on his last game in the German top flight, it seems likely that many of the Red Bulls’ players will pull out top-drawer performances.
