Canucks vs. Predators: NHL Playoffs Same Game Parlay (Sunday)
The NHL Stanley Cup playoffs have another four-game slate to wager on Sunday. Round 1 has seen a lot of teams bring their A-game, especially with their backs to the wall. The New York Islanders and Tampa Bay Lightning each staved off elimination, avoiding a four-game sweep in their respective series on Saturday. Vegas, who took a commanding 2-0 lead against Dallas on the road, wound up losing in overtime during Game 3 at home on Saturday night, while the Boston Bruins won both of their road games to head back to TD Garden up 3-1 against Toronto.
Although we whiffed on Friday’s Same Game Parlay for the Vancouver vs. Nashville matchup in Game 3, we’re back with another three-leg SGP ahead of Game 4 in Nashville. Make sure to follow me @Matt_MacKay_ on X to get more free plays, NHL Prop Bets, and NHL best bets during the week.
Sunday's NHL SGP
(Odds courtesy of FanDuel Sportsbook)
Leg 1: Filip Forsberg To Record 1+ Points (-290)
Filip Forsberg was held without a point for the first time in Nashville’s Western Conference playoff series against Vancouver on Friday night. The Predators’ top goal scorer won’t be held down for long though, as he has recorded at least three shots on goal in every game against the Canucks.
Skating on Nashville’s first-line attack and also featured on its top powerplay unit, Forsberg is expected to face Casey DeSmith in the crease for Vancouver once again in Game 4. DeSmith recorded 29 saves against 30 shots in Game 3, but he’s allowed three to six goals in three of his previous five starts. Forsberg is the favorite in the 1+ points betting market for a reason, so let’s insert him as the first leg in our SGP.
Leg 2: Brock Boeser To Record 1+ Points (-148)
Vancouver’s first-line attack has some great talent, including Brock Boeser. Boeser has recorded an assist and scored his first goal of the series in Game 3 against Juuse Saros. Saros allowed two goals while facing only 12 shots in Game 3, so as long as Vancouver generates 20 or more shots on goal during Game 4, Boeser is more than likely going to be involved in at least one scoring play.
The 27-year-old winger finished with over 70 points in the regular season, including 40 goals, leading the Canucks as their primary goal scorer. He also ranks second in shots on goal for Vancouver, attempting 204 shots, behind only Elias Pettersson.
Boeser has only attempted three shots on goal thus far during this playoff series against the Predators, but he did net a powerplay goal during Game 3. Expect Boeser to carry this momentum into Game 4 against a shaky Saros following a lackluster showing in the net during Vancouver’s 2-1 win on Friday night.
Leg 3: Under 7.5 Total Goals (-480)
We have yet to see a game between Nashville and Vancouver finish with eight total goals this season. All five previous contests have yielded seven goals or less. Both teams have good defensive physicality and goaltenders who fluctuate between hot and cold. At -480 odds though, we’re adding this juice into our Same Game Parlay to get it over +200 odds. Whether it’s 5-2, 4-3, or 6-1, this final leg ensures we can enjoy a relatively high-scoring affair in Nashville on Sunday without worrying about whether six or seven total goals are scored.
Same Game Parlay: +257
We’re fading both teams in this matchup in moneyline and puck line betting markets. They are a bit difficult to figure out, but we know that each team possesses high-octane scorers. This is why Filip Forsberg and Brock Boeser are being inserted to each record 1+ points for the first two legs of our Same Game Parlay. Goaltending on both teams can either be strong or poor, as Saros only faced 12 shots in Game 3, allowing two goals, which was enough to wind up with a loss. By taking under 7.5 total goals, which has hit in all five previous head-to-head games this season, we’re boosting our SGP from +14o to +257 odds.
