Cincinnati Bearcats vs. Navy Midshipmen Odds & Game Pick (2021)

The question likely isn’t how the No. 2 Cincinnati Bearcats will win, but by how much. Likely double-digit favorites for the rest of their games this season, the Bearcats must convince the selection committee they belong among the best four in the country.

On the other hand, the 1-5 Navy Midshipmen will spend the rest of the season attempting to salvage pride.

Let’s take a closer look to see where the value remains as kickoff approaches.

Overview

Unbeaten in conference play last season before winning the AAC title, expectations were once again high for Cincinnati. So far, so good. Led by senior quarterback Desmon Ridder, they knocked off the then No. 9 Notre Dame during a 6-0 start. Cincinnati will look to blow out their overmatched AAC opponents en route to another title game.

Cincinnati dominates Navy statistically on both sides of the ball and boasts a 29.8-point average margin of victory to Navy’s -15.2 average. However, fourth-year head coach Luke Fickell must keep the Bearcats focused on handling business every week.

Not only has this season gone south for the Midshipmen, but their metrics are amongst the worst in college football. They’re allowing 32.7 points per game without accomplishing much on offense, either.

Although always poor in the passing game, Navy ranks dead last in the NCAA this season. The Midshipmen have thrown for just 59.3 yards per game as they’ve limped to 17.5 points per contest.

Trends

  • Over 5-2 in Bearcats last seven road games
  • Bearcats 5-0 in last five October games

Bottom Line

Needing to pick up not just wins, but blowouts to bolster their College Football Playoff consideration, don’t expect the Bearcats to lay off the gas anytime soon. Expect Ridder to get what he wants while Cincinnati’s defense shuts down one of the most one-dimensional offensive game plans in college football.

Pick: Bearcats -27.5
