Coca-Cola 600 2022: Chase Elliott Betting Odds, Preview & Prediction

The NASCAR Cup Series heads to Charlotte Motor Speedway for its longest race of the year, the Coca-Cola 600. It’s a race that Chase Elliott is yet to win one of the prestigious races, but he has finished second in the last two. Further, he won the extra race run here in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Elliott currently leads the NASCAR Cup Series point standings, and he has a sizeable 52-point advantage over next-best Ryan Blaney. His nine top 10s and 11 top 20s are tied for first in both categories. Yet for all Elliott’s consistency, he has only won once through 13 races.

Chase Elliott Track History

Elliott owns one of the best resumes at Charlotte Motor Speedway among all active drivers. His average finish of 11.9 trails only Tyler Reddick, but Reddick has only made three starts here in Charlotte. Elliott owns one win, five top fives, and six top 10s across 10 career starts at Charlotte. Four of those top-five results have come in the last four races, including three Coke 600s. No driver with that many starts has secured top-five finishes here at the 50% clip Elliott has achieved.

NASCAR’s most popular driver excels both at Charlotte and at its best comparator track, Texas Motor Speedway. Both circuits are 1.5-mile intermediates with a quad-oval shape. Elliott owns an average finish of 11.5 there along with two top fives and six top 10s.

Chase Elliott Recent Form

Elliott has been the most consistent driver in the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series. However, he is coming off back-to-back underwhelming performances. Over the last two weeks, Elliott finished 29th at Kansas Speedway and 23rd in the All-Star Race at Texas Motor Speedway. But before those disappointing results, Elliott had finished no worse than 10th since the early-April race at Martinsville.

That said, Elliott hasn’t been at his best at 1.5-mile intermediates. He finished ninth at Las Vegas earlier this year before his disappointing results at Kansas and Texas. But Elliott was looking good at both tracks—he had led laps at Kansas before blowing a tire, and he got caught up in a wreck with Kyle Busch while running fifth at Texas.

Chase Elliott Coke 600 Prediction

Elliott Top 5: +105 at BetMGM
There’s a simple reason to back this play. Elliott owns four top-five results in his last four Charlotte starts. We’re getting him in the plus money to do so again, which feels like a steal given where this line sits at other sites. You’ll find him listed at -135 to record a top-five result at DraftKings. Although the Toyotas have looked faster than the Chevrolets recently, I feel great about taking the discounted price on BetMGM.
