Coco Gauff: 2023 French Open Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions

For as much as Rafael Nadal has dominated the men’s side of the French Open with 14 career titles, there has been much more parity on the women’s side. The second major of the season begins on May 28, with the women’s final taking place on June 10. Roland Garros has celebrated eight different women’s champions in the last nine years, with Iga Swiatek (2020, 2022) the only repeat winner in that span. That is much of the reason Swiatek is the overwhelming odds-on favorite to win her fourth Grand Slam, as she looks to capitalize on the void left by Ashleigh Barty and Serena Williams as the next most dominant player in women’s tennis. Is a third title at Roland Garros a formaility at this point for Swiatek, or will the tournament’s parity result in yet another unforeseen winner? Read on for our thoughts and predictions for the top contenders at the 2023 French Open.

2023 French Open Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Coco Gauff

Here is our betting outlook for the 2023 French Open.

2023 French Open Betting Predictions

A rematch of last year’s French Open Women’s Final could come in the quarterfinals, as runner-up Coco Gauff was placed in the same quarter as defending champion Iga Swiatek. Gauff has had a successful clay-court season in doubles, reaching the finals in Madrid and Rome. The same cannot be said of her singles record, as she is just 3-3 on clay this season, and all losses were against players ranked lower than her (No. 24 Anastasia Potapova, No. 38 Marie Bouzkova, No. 42 Paula Badosa). Gauff’s issues may stem from an ongoing search for a new coach, as she has split from longtime coach Diego Moyano.

2023 French Open Betting Advice & Picks

A glass half-full approach for Gauff backers is that she was just 3-3 on clay entering last year’s surprising run to the French Open final. However, Iga Swiatek exposed Gauff in a dominating 6-1, 6-3 triumph last year, breaking Gauff’s serve five times in the process. Unless Swiatek loses shockingly before the quarterfinals, a quarterfinal loss to Swiatek inevitably feels like Gauff’s ceiling in this tournament.
