Best Picks for the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400

In the NASCAR Cup Series rotation since 1959, this event is the second held here in Dayton this season, with the first being the Daytona 500 to start the season off.

With Chevrolet and Ford tied with the most wins of any manufacturer here with 20 victories each, let’s take a closer look at how things might shake out this Saturday in Daytona.

Top 5: Denny Hamlin | +160 at DraftKings Sportsbook

With the most wins of any active drivers here at Daytona Speedway, Hamlin will be in search of his first one in this event, with all of them thus far coming in the Daytona 500. Sitting in 14th place in the standings, he needs a strong finish here to secure himself in the postseason, giving him the added motivation to make things happen in the back half of this race.

Finishing in the top five in two of his past three races, expect another high finish from the NASCAR veteran here.

Top 3: Chase Elliott | +275 at DraftKings Sportsbook

Elliott has two runner-ups here at Daytona over the past two seasons, and while he’s struggled (relatively) since winning at Pocono a month ago, I think we see Elliott bounce back on a track he’s had some success on in the past. Have a career season, Elliott has now finished top 10 in eight of his past 10 races, including two runner-ups and three outright wins.

Now heading into the postseason as the odds on favorite, expect a strong showing from Elliott as he slams the door on any potential noise from his critics. Currently sitting 134 points ahead of his next closest competition, Kyle Larson, this season’s cup is Elliott’s to lose.
