College Basketball Betting Odds, Picks & Predictions: Friday (2/3)

Welcome to the Friday college basketball slate. March Madness is right around the corner, I can almost taste it. This Friday slate isn’t all too interesting so remember not to force any bets you don’t love, there is still plenty of season left.

Here are my best bets for Friday.

Today’s Best College Basketball Bets

Boise State at San Diego State

For the most exciting game of the slate, you have two Mountain West teams with tournament plans taking on each other in San Diego.

The crux of this game will come down to rebounding. Both teams are solid defenses with some incredible defensive rebounding. San Diego State ranks high in limiting second-chance opportunities with Boise ranking high in limiting transition points.

Both teams’ near-proximity shooting is elite. I am not sure who will win out in the ability to stop the other team down low, but this spread is simply too big. I trust the Broncos’ defense to keep them in the game here, and potentially even win out.

Play: Boise State +6.5

VCU at Saint Louis 

In a game between two A10 teams who are hopeful for a tournament bid, this game should be an underrated treat with two top-100-paced teams with some talented athletes on the court.

One of VCU’s biggest issues is their ability to handle the ball, turning over the rock at a 21.3 percent clip, 322nd worse in the nation. What’s great for VCU is that Saint Louis forces turnovers at the 355th lowest rate in the nation. 

What the Rams do well is get to the rim and drawing contact. Nearly 23 percent of their points come from the charity stripe which ranks 12th highest in the nation. VCU’s offense should perform better than expected tonight based on simply lining up well against the Billikens.

With VCU’s top 25th-ranked defense, this is looking like a nice road win for the Rams’
