Wednesday's Best College Basketball Bets: Creighton vs. Providence

Creighton (-3.5) at Providence - O/U 142.5
When Creighton and Providence faced off last month, the Bluejays won convincingly by 20 points at home. Tonight's matchup should be much closer despite that result. The Friars have a real shot at pulling the upset with multiple factors on their side.
First, this Big East rivalry deserves some important context. Creighton and Providence have split their season series for five straight seasons. The Friars have also beaten the Bluejays at least once in 10 of the last 11 years since the latter joined the conference. Plus, Providence is 8-2 against the spread (ATS) in the past 10 meetings with four straight covers at home vs. Creighton.
Providence is playing notably better after that January loss to Creighton. The Friars are 3-1 ATS in the four games since with a pair of two-point road losses at St. John's and Villanova. They came close to upsetting St. John's on Saturday and can carry the momentum into this home spot. Providence is also 8-3 ATS as an underdog this season, including 3-1 ATS as a home dog.
Creighton, meanwhile, is a bit overdue for some negative regression. The Bluejays are on a seven-game winning streak and are 12-1-1 ATS over the last 14 contests. That includes eight straight covers as well. As good as they've been, it's an ideal time to sell high.
Creighton is coming off a big road win at Villanova to boost its NCAA Tournament resume and standing in the Big East. A three-pointer in the final seconds completed the Bluejays' come-from-behind effort in a tough road environment. The Bluejays may be in for a letdown ahead of another lengthy road trip up to Rhode Island tonight. Plus, this is a classic trap/sandwich spot with Creighton hosting Marquette in a marquee matchup this weekend.
Despite a pedestrian 11-11 record overall and a 5-6 mark in the Big East, Providence has been resilient and continues to play hard. Kim English's squad is especially overperforming in games after a loss. The Friars are 15-6 ATS off a loss over the past two seasons, including 7-3 ATS this year.
