Best Bets to Win the SEC

Alabama is the easy choice to win the SEC. Since 2014 they have missed two SEC championship games. In one of those games, they can blame Joe Burrow. Otherwise, Alabama is 5-0 in the games they have made. Very few coaches can compete with Nick Saban. He might be the best that has ever done it. He has an endless talent pool. With ten starters going in the 2021 NFL Draft, Alabama is going to need it.

Losing Mac Jones, Devonta Smith, Jaylen Waddle, and Najee Harris leaves gaps in the Alabama offense. Not to mention losing Steve Sarkisian as their offensive coordinator. Bryce Young, the second overall recruit in the class of 2020, will likely be the starting quarterback. John Metchie III came out last year with just under 1,000 receiving yards. He looks to be the #1 wide receiver. While running back is still undecided due to the loaded talent pool. We may see a couple of different guys carrying the ball. Almost every Alabama starting running-back becomes a household name by the end of their careers. Mark Ingram, Trent Richardson, Derrick Henry, Josh Jocobs, and Najee Harris. New offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien

Three defenders left in the draft last year. Patrick Surtain II, Dylan Moses, and Christian Barmore. With less turnover than the offense, the defense will be the stronger side of the ball this year. Youngsters Chris Braswell and Ga’Quincy McKinstry have shined during practice and look to add some depth to the defensive side of the ball that is already starring Malachi Moore and Tim Smith. Teams will struggle to score on a defense that gave up 19 points per game last year and will only be better this year. Alabama may very well have the #1 defense in college football

Pick: Alabama(-160)

Best Value to Win the SEC

There is one team in the SEC that is a great value pick. Texas A&M. Jimbo Fisher is still one of the top coaches in college football and has plenty of experience winning championships. Replacing starting quarterback Kellen Mond will be the hardest thing for Texas A&M. Having two 4-star dual-threat quarterbacks in Haynes King and Eli Stowers will give Jimbo Fisher options on who he would like leading his offense.

Texas A&M is going to be loaded offensively. They have one of the best offensive lines in the country. Kenyon Green might be the best offensive lineman in college football, and tight end Jalen Wydermyer can do it all. Block, speed, and owns a large catch radius. They have a returning 1,000-yard rusher in Isaiah Spiller. Potential SEC breakout candidate wide receiver Ainias Smith along with redshirt sophomore Chase Lane. With some dynamic playmakers, Jimbo Fisher will have no problem getting his offense to score some points with his game planning.

Defense is really where the Aggies are going to shine. Led by star defensive end DeMarvin Leal who is getting comparisons to Myles Garrett, this defense will be tough for anyone to score. With DeMarvin Leal, McKinnley Jackson, and Jayden Peevy, the defensive front will anchor the Aggies. Throw in the secondary of Leon O’Neal Jr, Myles Jones, and Jaylon Jones. Teams will struggle to find an open wide receiver in the short amount of time they will have to get the ball out. Take out the game against the star-studded Alabama offense. Last year this team only gave up 16 points per game on average.

If you are looking for a high-value pick to win the SEC, Texas A&M is the team.

Pick: Texas A&M(+1100)
