College Football Futures: Odds to Go Undefeated (2024)

With 130+ NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) teams, it is not hard to imagine that a few teams will make it through the season undefeated. With 26 undefeated FBS teams heading into Week 5, it's a fair question to ask who can stay undefeated this season? For those who think they know the answer, FanDuel Sportsbook has odds to go undefeated for several teams.

But undefeated seasons are not that common. There was just one last season. Michigan. The year before, it was Georgia. No one went undefeated in 2021. There hasn't been more than one in a season since 2010 (TCU and Auburn).

With many teams playing soft schedules to start the season, it is not shocking so many undefeated teams remain at this stage. But with conference play getting underway, many of the pretenders will soon get unmasked. It could happen for some this weekend.

Let's examine the odds for some of the remaining teams.

Texas (+205)

The Longhorns stomped all over Michigan and looked like they belonged in a different class than the Sooners. But then there's No. 2 Georgia in a few weeks. That may be the only game left on the schedule where they may not be favored. However, the road will be difficult even if they beat the Bulldogs.

Could they do it? Could they run the table and go undefeated? Sure, but is there value in betting on them to do so at +205? Absolutely not.

Ohio State (+210)

As they often do, the Buckeyes look like a force to be reckoned with in every facet of the game. But while +210 odds give them a 32.3% chance, their actual chances are much lower. Why? Because they have quite a few formidable opponents still to come. There's No. 8 Oregon in a couple of weeks and No. 9 Penn State in early November.

Let's not forget about No. 12 Michigan.

Alabama (+420)/Georgia (+600)

Alabama went undefeated in 2020. Georgia do so in 2022. Both are excellent and probably the worst teams to bet on going undefeated. Why? Both of their schedules contain several tough opponents. Along with their clash this weekend, the Bulldogs have three ranked teams left on their schedule; Alabama has four.

Could they run the table? Sure. They've done it once in recent years, so why not again? The risk is not worth the reward here. But only one of them can.

UNLV (+1850)

With their starting quarterback walking away, the outlook is cloudy for the Rebels. Wait and see how their new quarterback performs before putting money on them. If you wait a week or two, their odds could get much shorter (and the payout smaller). But losing a starting signal-caller is tough to overcome.

Army (+5000)

With how well the Black Knights have played this season, they may run the table and complete the regular season undefeated. North Texas will not be an easy win and Air Force always plays them tough. But they do have two tough ones ahead - Notre Dame and Navy.

Notre Dame will probably be favored, but the Fighting Irish will struggle against Army’s run game. Navy always plays them tough, but Army will likely be the favorite in that game. But at +5000, it's worth skipping your morning latte for a couple of days to put $10 down (to win $500).

Navy (+6000)

The Midshipmen are in a similar position as the Black Knights. Their remaining schedule is certainly winnable, with two challenging games remaining: Notre Dame and hated rival Army.
