College Football Parlay Bets for Week 12

Only in 2020 could we be into Week 12 of the college football season and have teams with 0-0 records. Utah, I’m looking at you. It’s been a wild ride all season and this week has been no different with several more games being yanked off the board due to the coronavirus. A couple of them may or may not have been a part of the original version of this article at one point. Nonetheless, we push forward. Here are my best college football parlays for the Week 12 slate.

Week 12 College Football Parlay No. 1

Our first featured college football parlay for Week 12 combines the under in a game between two struggling SEC offenses and a short road favorite in the Pac-12. The resulting payout odds are +253.

Mississippi State at Georgia (Under 44.5)

The Mississippi State version of the air raid offense is a work in progress, to say the least. After an explosion in Week 1 against LSU, Mike Leach’s team has endured a quarterback controversy and struggled to score in every week since. If the Georgia defense wants to pitch a shutout in this game, you have to believe they’d be able to. Meanwhile, Stetson Bennett and the Georgia offense haven’t exactly been lighting the world on fire this year in their own right. MSU brings a defense capable of slowing them down. It seems like a long shot for this game to clear 44.5

California (-3)

It was an ugly season-opener for Justin Wilcox’s California team. Defense is the heart and soul of the program, yet the Golden Bears were missing tackles all over the field against UCLA last week. With first game sloppiness and jitters now behind them, look for a much sounder performance this week in Corvallis. Oregon State is hungry for their first win as well after dropping their first two games, but the current spread of Cal -3.5 is too much of an adjustment from the opening line of a full eight points in my opinion.

Week 12 College Football Featured Parlay No. 2

Our second featured college football parlay this week combines a total play in a marquee Sun Belt Conference game with a pair of moneyline selections. The resulting three-leg ticket holds payout odds of +402.

Appalachian State at Coastal Carolina (Under 48)

Both teams could struggle to score in this high-stakes Sun Belt Conference showdown. Appalachian State has a defense capable of dictating the outcome of any game. They come in allowing just 16.9 points per game (PPG) and 324.7 yards per game (YPG) on the season. Speaking of good defenses, the Chanticleers come into Saturday’s home contest having gone 10 full quarters without allowing an offensive touchdown. Nicknamed the “Black Swarm”, CCU’s defensive numbers are actually slightly ahead of those of the Mountaineers (16.3 PPG, 309.6 YPG). In addition to the defensive statistics, historical trends for both teams heavily favor the Under.

Wisconsin (-315)

In a game that could ultimately decide the winner of the Big Ten West Division, I am inclined to believe that Wisconsin is the vastly superior team. Quarterback Graham Mertz has been electric in the two games he and the Badgers have been able to play. Meanwhile, Northwestern also comes in unbeaten largely thanks to an aggressive defense that has frustrated every opponent thus far. I’m just not sure that the Wildcats formula for success which has involved gaining less than 300 yards gained in two of their wins this season is going to hold up against Wisconsin.

Nevada (+100)

It should be a fun one between San Diego State and Nevada in the Mountain West on Saturday afternoon. The Aztecs bring a ferocious defense to the table but showed signs of vulnerability in a loss to San Jose State. If there’s another offense out there who figures to be able to take advantage, it’s the Wolfpack. Redshirt sophomore quarterback Carson Strong is electric and junior receiver Romeo Doubs is one to watch. Home field should aid Nevada’s cause in what is a very narrow spread.
