Week 5 College Football Parlays Recap

We had two near misses last week as both our against the spread (ATS) and moneyline parlays fell short by one leg. Nevada and Louisiana Tech covered easily as underdogs, but Wisconsin let us down big time as a short home favorite. Safe to say we’ll be looking to avoid the Badgers moving forward. Four of the five picks included in last week’s moneyline favorites parlay hit. The gut-punch came when LSU squandered a second-half lead at home and lost to Auburn. After a week of close calls, it’s time to get back on track and bring a winning ticket all the way to the finish line!

Week 6 Featured College Football Parlay

To be completely honest, there are not a ton of college football betting picks that I love this week. So instead of giving out two small tickets, we’ll opt to roll with a big seven-leg doozy as this week’s featured parlay. One of the seven plays sees us taking the favorite ATS in a highly-anticipated top-5 matchup. The other six picks are all hefty moneyline favorites. The seven bets come together to form a parlay with profitable +229 odds. Let’s examine the content of this Week 6 parlay ticket in depth.

Penn State at Iowa (-1.5)

As teased above, the lone ATS prediction in this week’s college football parlay looks at the marquee showdown between Penn State and Iowa. Both teams are ranked in the top-5 ahead of this matchup. It could prove massive in the Big Ten championship picture, particularly for Penn State knowing that the preseason conference favorite, Ohio State, still lurks on their schedule. Along with the short point spread, the low total of 40.5 suggests a hard-hitting defensive affair in Iowa City on Saturday.

Defense has certainly been the calling card for both the Nittany Lions and Hawkeyes thus far in 2021. The two teams rank second and third in the nation in points allowed per game. Penn State has surrendered only 10.8 through the first five weeks, while Iowa has allowed 11.6 per contest. Of course, the Hawkeyes have been true ball hawks as well. Their propensity to create turnovers has led to numerous short fields for the offense. Iowa’s quarterback, Spencer Petras, is nowhere near as talented a playmaker as PSU’s Sean Clifford. However, the Kinnick Stadium crowd should help spur the Hawkeye defense to another outstanding performance. We’ll take Iowa to get the job done on Saturday.

South Carolina at Tennessee (-435)

We kick off our college football parlay moneyline favorites with this SEC East Division battle. South Carolina was fortunate to cover at home last week against Troy. Meanwhile, Tennessee was very impressive in a blowout road win over Missouri. The Vols should handle this one with ease at home.

Old Dominion at Marshall (-1375)

To Old Dominion’s credit, they have played Buffalo and UTEP tough in each of their last two outings. However, the Monarchs have dropped both games. This is still the same ODU team that entered the season with one of the lowest power ratings in all of FBS. Marshall fancies themselves a Conference USA contender and should have little trouble winning this one outright.

Georgia (-720) at Auburn

After last week’s results, it sure feels like Georgia has jumped up from the “everyone else” tier to join the “Alabama” tier. Even without quarterback J.T. Daniels, the Bulldogs are a force to be reckoned with. Kirby Smart has assembled the best defense in the country, and the offensive line had little trouble creating running lanes in a shutout of Arkansas.

Auburn beat us last week by rallying late to win at LSU. Bo Nix was impressive in that game, but he faces a much stiffer test against the UGA defense this week. Look for the Dogs to flex their muscle once again.

SMU (-575) at Navy

No team is a bigger fan of SMU right now than Cincinnati. If the Mustangs can keep winning, their late-season contest against the Bearcats could help further Cincinnati’s playoff case. Tanner Mordecai should have no problem lighting up the Navy defense this week. The Midshipmen somehow took down UCF last week for their first win, but this is still a talent-stricken team.

Florida State at North Carolina (-900)

Florida State got off the schneid last week with a home win over Syracuse. The offense played well, but they’ll have to be a whole lot better if they hope to keep pace with Sam Howell and North Carolina on Saturday. After dropping a pair of games early in a season filled with high expectations, last week’s blowout win over Duke bodes well for UNC’s focus moving forward.

Alabama (-1000) at Texas A&M

The final leg of this Week 6 college football betting parlay features the top team in the country, Alabama. The Crimson Tide were no match for Ole Miss last week. Now, they head to College Station to face a reeling Texas A&M squad. Even if the Aggies’ talented defense holds up, it’s impossible to trust the offense right now. As per usual, the Tide will roll.
