While the weekend may have been devoid of matchups between ranked squads, it certainly wasn’t lacking in drama. There were a number of games which went down to the wire, as well as some big upsets sprinkled in for good measure. Here’s how it all translates into this week’s power rankings.

25) Washington Huskies, 2-1
The Huskies bounced back from last week’s home loss to Cal with a big 32-point victory over Hawaii. A tough road date at BYU is next up on the docket, followed by conference play the rest of the way.

24) Kansas State Wildcats, 3-0
The Wildcats scored one of the biggest upsets of Week 3. As seven-point road dogs at Mississippi State, the club flipped the expected script and walked out with a 31-24 win.

23) Arizona State Sun Devils, 3-0
The Sun Devils have Michigan State’s number. After taking the Spartans down in the desert last year, they went to East Lansing this time around and escaped with a 10-7 victory.

22) California Bears, 3-0
Strong defense and just enough on offense can still win at the FBS level. Cal is demonstrating that and creeping up the polls as a result. A road date at Ole Miss is on tap for this Saturday.

21) Virginia Cavaliers, 3-0
Undefeated so far, the Cavaliers are looking like the best team in the ACC Coastal. Before proving that in conference play, the team has Old Dominion at home followed by a road date with Notre Dame.

20) Boise State Broncos, 3-0
Attrition catches up to even the best programs eventually, but it’s not proving to be an issue for the Broncos. There are a good amount of new faces at Boise State, but the record is unblemished thus far.

19) Washington State Cougars, 3-0
The Cougars picked up a seven-point win over Houston on Friday night to remain perfect on the year. They’ll be home this week to take on a struggling UCLA team.

18) Iowa Hawkeyes, 3-0
The annual rivalry game with Iowa State was impacted by the elements and dragged out as a result, but the Hawkeyes got the job done with a one-point win. Middle Tennessee comes to town next.

17) Oregon Ducks, 2-1
Since dropping a tough opener to Auburn, the Ducks have had their way with two lesser foes. Pac-12 play kicks off with a road date at Stanford on Saturday.

16) Texas A&M Aggies, 2-1
The Aggies bounced back from the loss at Clemson by pounding visiting Lamar to the tune of 62-3. The competition level kicks back up again in Week 4 as Auburn comes to Kyle Field.

15) Texas Longhorns, 2-1
The Longhorns rebounded from a tough loss to LSU with a big 48-13 victory over Rice. The Big 12 schedule kicks off on Saturday with an intriguing home date versus a potent Oklahoma State team.

14) UCF Knights, 3-0
The Knights were 10-point home favorites over Stanford, and they delivered with an impressive 45-27 victory. The team travels to Pitt this weekend before kicking off AAC play the following week.

13) Penn State Nittany Lions, 3-0
Speaking of Pitt, the Panthers gave the Nittany Lions all they could handle in Week 3. A 17-10 win kept the mark perfect as the team heads to Maryland next week after a bye.

12) Wisconsin Badgers, 2-0
The Badgers had the week off in advance of a big home showdown with Michigan. Through two games, Wisconsin has outscored opponents by a ridiculous margin of 110-0.

11) Michigan Wolverines, 2-0
The Wolverines also had the week off after escaping with an overtime home win over Army in Week 2. They’re currently three-point road dogs for what should be one of the best games of Week 4.

10) Utah Utes, 3-0
The Utes have held opponents to a combined 29 points through three weeks, including Saturday’s shutout victory over Idaho State. A trip to USC under the Friday night lights is next.

9) Florida Gators, 3-0
Starter Feleipe Franks went down to injury, but the Gators were still able to exit Kentucky with a win. A home date with Tennessee is followed by a tune-up with Towson, so a 5-0 mark is within reach.

8) Auburn Tigers, 3-0
The Tigers manhandled Kent State by a score of 55-16 to remain unbeaten. A tough road date with Texas A&M looms large for this weekend, so we’ll be learning a lot about Auburn.

7) Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 2-0
The Fighting Irish destroyed visiting New Mexico by a score of 66-14 on Saturday. They’ll have a much tougher time this weekend as they head to Georgia as big underdogs.

6) Ohio State Buckeyes, 3-0
Another week, another big double-digit win for the Buckeyes. This week, it was a 51-10 road annihilation over Indiana. Miami-Ohio is up next, followed by Big Ten play the rest of the way.

5) Oklahoma Sooners, 3-0
The Sooners hit the West Coast this weekend and earned rave reviews for 34-point victory over UCLA. Big 12 play gets underway on September 28 with a home date versus Texas Tech.

4) LSU Tigers, 3-0
The Tigers took Northwestern State to the woodshed to run the record to 3-0. Joe Burrow delivered another solid performance as he continues to insert himself into the Heisman conversation.

3) Georgia Bulldogs, 3-0
A 55-0 home victory over Arkansas State served as the final tune-up for the Bulldogs. Notre Dame comes to town for a highly-anticipated matchup this weekend with Georgia currently a 13.5-point favorite.

2) Alabama Crimson Tide, 3-0
It was a road win over South Carolina on Saturday, but some critics feel the victory wasn’t dominant enough. Perhaps they’ll get the shellacking they’re looking for this week versus Southern Mississippi.

1) Clemson Tigers, 3-0
The Tigers had zero trouble handling Syracuse this year with a huge 41-6 road win on Saturday night. A home date with Charlotte is next on the docket before ACC play ramps up.

The Next 5

Oklahoma State Cowboys, TCU Horned Frogs, Memphis Tigers, Michigan State Spartans, Army Black Knights
The Cowboys offense and the Horned Frogs defense makes them two teams to keep an eye on. Memphis is the best team in the AAC not named UCF. Changes on offense have not led to results for the Spartans, while Army continues to do its thing in under the radar fashion.
