College Football Week 2 Picks: Best Early Bets (2026)
We’re moving into Week 2 of the 2026 college football season, yet we’ve already seen some remarkable finishes during the first full slate of matchups this past weekend. In Week 2, there are some massive games between top 25 opponents, featuring No. 1 Ohio State vs. No. 5 Texas, and No. 10 Oklahoma vs. No. 16 Michigan.
Western Michigan’s robbery of a potential massive upset against No. 16 Michigan made the top highlights. A new-look LSU offense with QB Sam Leavitt and head coach LaneKiffin throttled Clemson 51-10. Boise State took No. 2 Oregon down to the wire, while No. 9 Ole Miss outdueled No. 24 Louisville to post a thrilling 41-38 win during the Liberty Mutual Music City Kickoff game on Sunday night.
My College Football Week 1 Picks: Best Early Bets (2026) settled 1-2. Clemson +10.5 never had a chance, while Marshall’s 45-0 shutout against Penn State never gave the Thunder Herd a shot at covering +24.5. The winner came in a gritty matchup between Western Michigan and Michigan, with the Wolverines’ walk-off 13-12 win easily cashing Under 48.5.

Oklahoma (10) vs. Michigan (16)
Following Michigan’s controversial win at the end of their opener against Western Michigan, line movement has steamed toward Oklahoma as a -5.5 point road favorite in Ann Arbor. Both of these teams have top-tier defensive talent, which is why the point total has also dropped from 46.5 to 43.5.
Bryce Underwood made a clutch throw in the final moment of the game to avoid an upset against a talented Western Michigan defense that finished 2025 as a top-10 scoring unit. However, he’ll face another difficult Sooners defense in Week 2, led by head coach Brent Venables, after posting a 51-0 shutout win over UTEP.
Oklahoma’s defense finished 2025 ranked seventh in points allowed per game (15.5) and held Underwood’s offense under 300 yards during a 24-13 win. QB John Mateer threw 3 touchdowns on just 11 completions for 225 yards in Week 1, so he’s primed to make another Heisman Trophy run in 2026.
The point total feels a bit low in this game, considering Oklahoma’s talent with Mateer. We’re getting a much steeper price on the Sooners than we were a few days ago, but I think their defense will shut down Underwood again on Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor.
Let’s lay Oklahoma -5.5 in a game where Michigan may wind up being held to 10 or fewer points.
Pick: Oklahoma -5.5 (-108)
Arizona vs. BYU (14)
Arizona vs. BYU should be a fun game to watch during Saturday’s late afternoon window. The Wildcats return veteran signal-caller Noah Fifita, who threw for 262 yards and 2 touchdowns against Northern Arizona in a 35-7 win during Week 1.
Fifita has command of Arizona’s offense. He’s also played BYU and knows what it takes to compete against this top-tier program.
In 2025, Arizona wound up losing 33-27 to BYU in 2OT at home. Now, the Wildcats head to Provo, which will be a difficult environment to stay productive. The Cougars just dominated Utah Tech to the tune of 63-7 in Week 1, recording 5 rushing touchdowns and over 300 rushing yards, while finishing the game without committing a turnover.
Neither of these teams were truly tested during Week 1. It’s early in the year, so teams are still settling into a rhythm and adjusting to full-game speed. I also like the continuity with QB Noah Fifita, while Arizona is now catching +7.5, moving from +6.5 through this key number of 7.
Bet on Arizona to cover +7.5 against BYU on the road in Week 2.
Pick: Arizona +7.5 (-108)
Ohio State (1) vs. Texas (5)
The biggest matchup in Week 2 is situated in prime-time when No. 1 Ohio State heads to Austin to take on the No. 5 Texas Longhorns. The Buckeyes are a rare underdog, catching +1.5, while the point total is set at 48.5.
Quarterbacks Julian Sayin and QB Arch Manning will face off for the second consecutive year following Ohio State’s 14-7 win at Ohio Stadium in Week 1 last season.
On Saturday, both signal-callers shined brightly against weaker opponents. Manning shredded Texas State for 305 yards and 4 touchdowns during a 59-7 win at home. Sayin also inflicted plenty of damage through the air against Ball State, logging 21-25 for 320 yards and 3 touchdowns, while also adding a rushing touchdown in a 56-3 rout.
These two defenses allowed 10 combined points to their opponents in Week 1. They also scored at least 56 points, which is why oddsmakers have set the line to Texas -1.5 with a 48.5-point total.
Since opening, the Longhorns have stayed at -1.5, while the point total has crept up from 47.5 to 48.5. Ohio State’s new OC, Arthur Smith, adds a second former NFL play-caller and head coach to its staff.
Texas remains with OC Kyle Flood and head coach Steve Sarkisian. It feels like this is a bigger game for Texas, which needs to prove they can avenge their loss to the Buckeyes last season with a homestand in prime-time. Manning floundered for stretches of last season, while Sayin wound up just shy of grabbing the Heisman Trophy with his hyper-efficient passing numbers.
Defense is going to be the tale of the tape in this game for a second straight time. Let’s take advantage of the point total moving to 48.5 and bet Under 48.5 for the third early best bet on the Week 2 college football slate.
Pick: Under 48.5 (-108)
