NFL Week 18 Odds, Picks & Predictions: Cowboys vs. Commanders

The Commanders were eliminated in week 17 and will start rookie Sam Howell at QB, though he can’t be much of a downgrade from Carson Wentz. We’ve seen time and time again this year where backup quarterbacks come in for one or two starts and play well. Washington would love to play spoiler to the Cowboys’ chance of winning the division and a potential one seed.

Dallas’s motivation is simple: a win gives them an opportunity for an NFC East title and one seed, with some help. They’ll play at the same time as Philadelphia and San Francisco so the motivation could fluctuate during the game. Don’t be surprised if those two, both two score favorites, get off to a big lead and cause the Cowboys to sit starters.

The Commanders have nothing to play for but pride, however there is no more prideful accomplishment than beating the Cowboys to play spoiler. There are too many question marks about where Dallas’s motivation could go throughout the game to lay this many points in a divisional road game. I like the Commanders to cover here.
