Overview
The Cowboys’ offense is legitimately hot right now. Quarterback Andy Dalton has found a groove, and even though the Cowboys are playing without star linemen Tyron Smith and Zach Martin, they have gotten better over the past month since a brutal Thanksgiving Day loss to Washington. Dallas has scored 108 points – an average of 36 per game – in its last three games.
Amari Cooper and the rest of the Dallas receivers are making huge plays against opposing secondaries. Dalton, who replaced the injured Dak Prescott against the Giants in Week 5, has developed a much stronger rapport with them lately. The Cowboys are getting production throughout the lineup, and crucially, they aren’t committing the turnovers that plagued them earlier in the season. Ezekiel Elliott’s fumble problems destroyed this offense in the first half of this 16-game season.
Dallas is riding a three-game winning streak. If it moves to four, the team could win the NFC East title.
The Giants faced a very tough schedule in December. They actually beat the Seattle Seahawks, but the difficult games kept coming. Both the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens are likely to end the NFL season with 11-5 records. The Giants couldn’t handle either of them. The Cowboys, however, are a lot more beatable.
Big Blue is going to have to get the same caliber of play from their secondary that they received in an upset of the Seahawks a few weeks ago. The Giants limited Seattle’s offense to just 10 points that day. Once again, the Giants have to turn this into a 17-13 slugfest and get just enough offense to win.
Daniel Jones has struggled as New York’s quarterback this year, and Saquon Barkley’s injury in the season-opener robbed the Giants of their best offensive player. Defense and special teams have to carry the load.

Bottom Line

Dalton has never won a playoff game, but he has won a lot of late-season contests to get into the playoffs. He is a far better quarterback than Jones at this point, and it should show on the field.
