The UFC is headed to Los Angeles, California, for UFC 331 with an exciting rematch in the flyweight division. Flyweight champion Joshua Van is facing Alexandre Pantoja in a rematch where Pantoja is trying to get his strap back after suffering an injury in the first 30 seconds of their first bout. The whole card looks exciting, but I have an underdog and a method of victory prop that I love on the main card. The prelims begin at 5:30 p.m. EDT, while the main card starts at 9 p.m. EDT, all on Paramount+. Here’s my top UFC 331 picks for Patricio "Pitbull" Freire vs. Doo Ho Choi.

Patricio "Pitbull" Freire (+230) vs. Doo Ho Choi (-310)
Patricio "Pitbull" Freire has had a tough run since joining the UFC in 2025. He lost to Yair Rodriguez via unanimous decision, but bounced back with a unanimous decision against Dan Ige. He lost via unanimous decision to Aaron Pico his last time out in April. The 39-year-old is 37-9 as a professional and has likely seen his best days, but he is still a solid fighter in the featherweight division.
He is facing Doo Ho Choi, who has been in the UFC since 2014. Choi has won his last three fights, all by knockout, against Bill Algeo, Nate Landwehr, and Daniel Santos. Choi is an exciting fighter who is not afraid to get into a brawl. He lands 5.00 significant strikes and absorbs 4.43 significant strikes per minute.
"Pitbull" is a better wrestler than Choi, and that is his easiest path to victory. He landed five takedowns against Ige and lands powerful ground-and-pound from top position. Choi has shown better wrestling in recent fights, but it still has room for improvement.
Choi likely has the speed advantage on the feet and has a three-inch reach advantage. He is an aggressive brawler, and likely finds himself inside Freire's range, so the reach advantage will not matter much. "Pitbull" is mispriced and should not be a large underdog in this matchup. He offers too much value to pass up in this spot.
