George Kambosos Jr. vs. Devin Haney: Betting Preview, Odds, Picks & Prediction (2022)

Australian George Kambosos Jr. +138 will get his first title defense in his home country on Saturday. He looks to defend his recently acquired belts against a fellow stud in Devin Haney -168. While belts will be on the lines for both fighters, their “0” will be as well as both come into this fight with undefeated records in their combined 47 fights as professionals.

Streamed in its entirety on ESPN and its family of networks, this card features great fights from start to finish. Let’s take a closer look at both championship-level warriors, and see where the value lies as fight night approaches down under.

George Kambosos Jr. (20-0-0, 10 KOs) vs. Devin Haney (27-0-0, 15 KOs)

In what will be the first title defense of Kambosos’ career, the Aussie picked up his third straight win in November vs. Teofimo Lopez; and picked up some hardware as well. With the win, Kambosos brought home the WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles, rising to stardom in the process and a must-see product.

Now getting the honor to face his first opponent as champion in front of his home fans in Melbourn, Kambosos gets the unfortunate task of welcoming a killer coming to town in Deven Haney. The current WBC lightweight champion, Haney, has held that belt since 2019, when he already had the WBO Inter-Continental lightweight title.

In his four title defenses, Haney is 4-0, most recently beating Joseph Diaz in December via unanimous decision. In what will now be the biggest fight of his career as he goes for four new belts, Haney is the slight favorite despite many assuming he’d be a sizeable underdog.

Bottom Line

Already facing an uphill battle drawing Kambosos on his home soil, Haney will enter the ring Saturday with a new team around him for the first time since becoming champion. Known as a defensive specialist, Haney likes to use his jab to stay at a distance and has become a master.

In this fight, however, I like for the power of Kambosos to be the deciding force, as the Australian holds a large edge in that category. If Kambosos can connect early, I like for his equally impressive jab to wear Haney down as the fight gets to its later rounds.

Pick: Kambosos Jr. +138
