New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles

Overview

By defeating the Giants (10-7-1) in the final week of the regular season, the Eagles (14-3) earned the lone bye in the conference. The Giants rested their starters for Week 18 since they had nothing to gain before the start of the playoffs, but nonetheless, the Eagles still won the season series 2-0.

Despite having a sore shoulder for the finale, Hurts started that game against the Giants after a two-week absence to help Philadelphia win the home-field advantage. Hurts and his teammates received another week of rest as a reward. With another week to get healthy,  Hurts was a full participant in practice on Tuesday and was taken off the injury list for the first time in a month.

The NFC’s strongest team in the regular season has now turned its attention to the postseason.

The Eagles blitzed the Giants in the first meeting between the two on December 11th, with a healthy Hurts at the helm. Hurts added seven carries for 77 yards and another touchdown in addition to his 217 yards of passing and two touchdowns. In the 48-22 road victory, Miles Sanders torched the Giants for 144 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

Since that game, the Giants have found their groove.

By thrashing the Indianapolis Colts and defeating the Washington Commanders, they squeezed into the playoffs for the first time since 2016. The victories before the Giants’ game against the Eagles in Week 18 qualified them for a Wild Card matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, who had defeated them on a last-second field goal back on December 24.

On Sunday, the Giants exacted retribution by triumphing 31–24. Saquon Barkley, a Pro Bowler, rushed for 53 yards and two touchdowns while Daniel Jones passed for 301 yards and two scores while adding 78 yards rushing.

Bottom Line

Despite getting the upper hand this regular season, these Giants are a different team than when the two faced off in early December. With a confident Jones at the helm, look for a heavy dose of Saquon Barkley to be the difference in keeping this one close.

Pick: Giants +7.5
