March 28, 1984, is a date that will forever connect these two cities and franchises. First, owner Robert Irsay relocated his Colts from Indianapolis to Baltimore in the middle of the night. Now, on Monday night, the two teams will square off on national TV. The Colts come off of their first win of the year, 27-17 over Miami. At the same time, the Ravens ride a three-game winning streak into this primetime spotlight affair.

Overview

Carson Wentz is succeeding at one aspect of the position — ball security. That was something that has plagued Wentz throughout his career. But in 2021, he’s completing 64% of his passes, adding five touchdowns to just one interception. All that leads to a 92.1 passer rating, but historically Wentz has struggled facing Baltimore’s defenses. He’s never beaten the Ravens and posts a 68.3 QB rating in the two games he’s played them. He’s completed just 52% of passes and sacked seven times. Can he continue to secure the ball against a D that has given him fits?

The Ravens are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 primetime matchups. QB Lamar Jackson is the ultimate showmen. He lives for the nights his team is the only game on. Lamar has shown improvement in his passing game, and Baltimore remains a healthy bet to rush effectively too. If they surpass 100 yards on the ground this Monday, they will break the NFL record for most consecutive games topping that mark. The roster is slowly regaining its health, making the Ravens a real threat to everyone in the AFC.

Bottom Line

Baltimore is the better team, with the better QB, and they seem to always show up under the bright lights. Perhaps Carson Wentz can limit mistakes and keep Indy in it for a while, but eventually, he will throw one to the wrong jersey costing his team the cover. Neither defense is overpowering, as injuries have taken their toll. Expect a higher scoring affair than typical of two run-heavy offenses.

Prediction: Ravens 31, Colts 20
